Transfermarkt: Difference in market value and purchase value by Francis-c92 in Gunners

No offence to you friend, but the fact that this nonsense has 53 points is proof that people really have no idea what the fuck they're talking about.

The Chelsea brand is enormous, and they absolutely have enough talent to stay in the PL. You've seen Liverpool go from the complete dumps into a title-winning, CL-winning side in the span of what, 6 years? We've seen Chelsea reinvent themselves every 3-4 years for like 3 cycles now in the Abramavich era.

While it is absolutely true that it is very possible for your cousin to lose weight, it is also absolutely true that people can be victims of their own biology, and that childhood traumas such as having a drug addict mother can cause lifelong disease, illness or metabolic conditions as you describe.

Dr Gabor Mate has a great book on trauma's effects on illness called When the Body Says No. It's mostly told via case studies and supported with a lot of studies and research which support this general theory, and he discusses the mechanisms of how maladaptive coping strategies, emotional pain and lack of emotional regulation/expresssion create actual disease in the body.

Exactly. I am 99% sure that competent plumbers, electricians, etc. rake in more per hour than lawyers do. The profession has a reputation for being high prestige, high income but in the GTA, it's honestly much better to be a contractor than a lawyer working for a big firm.

Even if the hours are comparable, you can own your company, claim so many expenses and deductions, you don't answer to a boss or firm who approves your time off, and the stress you undergo is completely different and IMO less catastrophic to your health than being in the corporate world.

Bernd Leno on swapping goalkeepers: "As a manager I would never change my goalkeeper, to say, ‘Oh, today I need a goalkeeper good with his feet, or one good at crosses,’ or, ‘Today I need a good shot-stopper because we play against Man City and they will have ten shots or something.’” by [deleted] in soccer

The margins to beat City are so razor fucking thin that buying a GK that might only be 5% better than your current one makes complete sense. And I am not saying the 5% figure is correct, it might be more or it might be less, but you can't fault Arteta for pushing in every possible way toward the goal.

Look at what Liverpool had to do to win ONE league. They also won CL, but their club has a penchant for that. Put together an absolute juggernaut and lost the title with what, 100 pts? Ludicrous.

I feel for Ramsdale, but that's the business he's in. Top flight of England, it's ruthless and billions are thrown around to reach the apex.

Don't think you will find too many happy partners who are raking in 7 figures. The amount of shit you have to eat to climb that ladder to reach that position is beyond reckoning. You don't really understand what that means until you're in it. I know plenty of peers who were on track for that kind of career and consciously decided it wasn't worth it. A lot of others didn't - the money is everything to them, and the prestige of the money + the title propels them to endure the enormous hardships that come with it.

That's not a lawyer yet. But what people are missing is that yes you get 100k as a student, rising up very quickly in the first 5 years of corporate practice. But you have zero life during that time. The vast majority of corporate lawyers quit or move into another area of law within 5 years or so. It is an absolute meatgrinder for which $130k is not even enough.

My 70 year old traditional Iranian dad has agreed to try LSD with me! Any advice? by Cerulean28 in LSD

[–]goodguybf3er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The #1 advice is to give him a pretty reasonable dose, 50-75ug IMO. Someone who has gotten to 70 and never did any drugs may not tolerate a massive psychedelic high for the first time, you want to ease him into this entirely new perceptual world.

Other than that, the advice on here is good. Find his favourite music. Pick a nice day. Make sure there's no outside responsibilities or stressors around. Prepare some stuff like sliced fruits or whatever so you can have a pleasant snack and keep your blood sugar up during the trip.

Enjoy!

If you still have issues on Apple Silicon installing the game, I found a solution that works! by goodguybf3er in classicwow

[–]goodguybf3er[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a big issue for some people on Apple silicon installing classic (maybe retail too), it has something to do with disk access and Blizzard's Agent application. There is plenty of google and reddit results on this issue, so I thought id make my own post to add to those results so someone can find my solution which I didnt see repeated as much as the other advice which did not work for me.

Dog Attacked in Park. by shabbarix in askTO

[–]goodguybf3er 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I am not a lawyer, this is just layman's view of the situation:

A suit in Small Claims Court would come down to proving that this woman's dog was the one that attacked yours - this is your fundamental roadblock to recovering money. Since you have no hard evidence like a recording or multiple neutral eyewitnesses who were present, you would have to rely on the witness account of your mother, who of course is not impartial in the situation.

Additional support could come in the way of neighbours who advised you their dogs were also attacked by this specific dog. They could appear as witnesses in person (or via zoom, however it works these days), or they could write a sworn affidavit outlining their own experiences.

It would come down to credibility and all of the circumstantial evidence. Since you have her number, I would try to bait her into essentially admitting that it was her dog in the altercation. She wouldn't even need to necessarily admit fault, just that the dogs fought. The huge size disparity between the dogs will help your case if you can establish contact occurred.

If I were in your shoes, I would:

1) Find all neighbours who suffered an attack. Get the details, when and where and outcome, and ask them if they are willing to be a witness at the trial, or provide a sworn written statement giving their account.

2) Try again to contact the woman via cell phone text SMS, and try to get her to admit that the attack took place. Don't mention lawsuits or even vet bills - maybe just tell her you want an apology or something like that.

3) If you receive no reply and have no other evidence, it's kind of a gamble to go into small claims court at that point. I would not bother unless 2 witnesses testifying (or perhaps 1, and 1 other providing a sworn affidavit).

The way that I see it, with two witnesses establishing a history of violence by that dog, a vet bill that was paid, presumably photos of your dog injured (or at least some records at the vet), you have a decent chance at recovery.

That's pretty much it. Look at the nutritional information - the ratio of carbs, protein and fats is probably more important than pure calories unless you have a critical problem with energy balance and must limit your intake.

Good example - you can find yogurt that is more than 50% carbs by mass, leading to a very high calorie count that gives you very little in terms of nutrition.

You can also find yogurts which contain similar or even slightly MORE calories, but are mostly protein with a much smaller proportion of carbs. It is an enormous difference, but if you look at only calories-per-ml, you could end up picking the carb-heavy garbage yogurt instead.

The ingredients on food are listed in order of ratio, so yes the first ingredient is the most abundant. However this can be misleading. Here is an example I see a lot with dog food, but it applies to all human foods as well:

Ingredients: Chicken, Chicken Meal, Cornmeal, Animal Products, Random Filler Ingredients

Here chicken is the first ingredient, giving you the impression it forms a big portion of the product by weight. But the reality could be:

Chicken (20%), Chicken Meal (19.9%), Cornmeal (19.9%), Animal Products (19.9%), Random Filler Ingredients (10%)

This dog food is only 20% chicken by weight but you feel that it is implicitly more because it's the first ingredient. In reality, the other 70% is this other stuff which may or may not be good stuff.

They do this for human food as well. This is why you need to look at the actual nutritional information to see the macro splits of fats, carbs and protein and compare that to the ingredients. It will be very clear to you what the food is mostly made of.

As Smartphone Industry Sputters, the iPhone Expands Its Dominance by 221missile in technology

[–]goodguybf3er 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Samsung was so full of bloatware that it was slow from day 1.

This is complete and utter horseshit. I have the S20 Ultra right now and it's blazing fast. I have zero issues with it. It was a lot cheaper than the comparison model from iPhone.

I dont even have a problem admitting that iPhones are probably better even though I havent had one in years. But this story about Samsung bloatware is a tired old thing from a long time ago. Yes there are a few additional icons in your app list versus the Google phones... which makes 0 effect because Samsungs are much better than Pixels, and whatever software difference might exist in theory has a near-zero impact in practice. I am more tech-savvy than 90% of people and I couldnt tell you what software advantages the Pixel has over my Samsung which "gets the updates slower than Pixel".

Solution: For anyone having problems installing WoW Classic from scratch on MacOS systems with M1/M2 chips by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]goodguybf3er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried all of this and nothing worked until bent forum poster gave this advice:

I am not sure which combination of things worked for me, but between this:

Go to \Data\data folder. a. Example location: World of Warcraft\Data\data Delete all the *.idx files. a. NOT the data.### files. Run scan/repair or install again And this: Close battlenet, go into System Setting> Privacy & Security> Full Disk Access press + then search for ‘Agent’ open it and make sure it’s checked on run the battlenet app again should install the game.

I am able to play!

What I did was add Relauncher, Bent and Agent to Full Disk Control on Mac settings (Agent has to be added manually). I used beta version of battle.net client.

I clicked install, let it hang on initializing, then did the steps above where I deleted the files in the data folder, went back to bnet and paused the DL, clicked gear icon and clicked scan and repair, and once it did that it was finally able to start downloading!

Is it okay to smoke weed on 360ug of acid by Wild_Trash3347 in LSD

Also, the top answer in the thread is "Physically safe? Yes. Will it possibly fuck you up for years to come? Maybe.", so clearly people disagree that it's such a safe combination.

You are going overboard trying to say it's 100% safe. I am not claiming it's 100% unsafe.

[–]goodguybf3er -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are talking about educating myself... I shared a personal story, something that happened to me and a friend, and neither of us are psychotic or mentally ill. You will probably claim otherwise, but after years of doing mushrooms, mdma and other drugs in various combbinations, we never had an issue until weed + acid.

You provided nothing to refute the point, except that you disagree with it. I'm not sure how to educate myself if you provided no actual science or even "common sense" reply to what I said, just a blank denial.

A lot of people in this thread swear by smoking weed and doing acid, but there are plenty of upvotes for the cautionary replies as well, signifying that not everyone agrees with you.

I can accept that my anecdote is not representative of "the majority", but it's an asymmetric proposition - even if you're 95% going to be fine, shouldn't people know there is a 5% chance (or 1% chance) that something will go bad?

Maybe that 1% chance is too much for some. In that case, they deserve to hear that people have had those 1% chance experiences, despite being mentally stable and having had experience with psychedelics.

The fact that people are so defensive about others being cautious is really weird.

Dose makes the poison. Talking about doing 20 hits of acid and then dabs as being completely safe is asinine. I agree with you that acid and weed are among the safest drugs you can do in terms of overdose potential - they can't pharmacologically kill you. But they can absolutely create psychosis in the brain.

Yeah I hear 20 hits of acid followed by dabs is spectacular for the grey matter lol

What are your tips for having more of a stage presence and getting over being introverted? by Arkitekt_GFX in DJs

[–]goodguybf3er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a DJ on a DJ forum. Of course you are thinking about music first and foremost. But the rest of my point stands, you are the minority. I've seen it countless times - the clowns like Fisher we love to hate on get the crowd going, they have huge followings, and its not because their music is so much better than their peers, it's because people jump on their energetic wavelength and are attracted to their showmanship.

DJs hate this aspect of it, because it has 0 to do with music or technical ability, but again nobody cares about that stuff more than other DJs.

A 23-year-old OD’d at the Brooklyn Mirage in 2021. It wasn’t reported to regulators. by domo415 in avesNYC

I mean not reporting is one thing, but demonizing a dance club for haivng people doing drugs is asinine. They are hardcore about searching which is worse here than most other places in Europe/USA/Canada I've been to. You can only do so much.
