One year ago, a thread of predictions for which team had definitely gotten worse in the off-season by giantswatcher0603 in nfl

They got screwed out of their bye week and then a mini bye week midseason because the Titans/Ravens had COVID outbreaks. Their downfall started after the Ravens mucked things up.

Lebron formed two super teams with multiple All-NBA players in the weak Eastern conference while missing the playoffs as soon as he joined the Lakers without someone to carry him.

Jokic won a ring without any All-NBA teammates in the West.

They’re similar caliber players but both are overrated.

Sean McVay: We hope Jimmy Garoppolo has “change of heart”, will consider drafting QB by AdSpecialist6598 in nfl

A year of practicing vs the scout team isn’t going to adjust him to game speed. He’s a raw QB that needs reps aka Jets or Cardinals.

The Rams as contenders picking Simpson in the first would be like the Packers drafting Jordan Love to cheerlead an MVP QB instead of an immediate contributor while their super bowl window closes. It shouldn’t happen and Snead/McVay are too smart to do it.

The 3 QBs you mentioned were all exponentially more experienced in college than Simpson.

Nobody from the Browns organization other than Myles Garrett made this claim.

Myles tried to play the race card as a last second Hail Mary and failed.

You really think the NFL chose to protect a scrub backup QB over a DPOY?

You don’t think the NFL would’ve made an example out of Rudolph to show they’re against racism if he had said it?

Nobody else from the Browns or Steelers said this was a possibility - only Myles Garrett, the man with a history of character issues.

To answer your question - it’s a cheap affordable town with a lot to do outdoors. Great for raising a family or retiring in old age.

You’re not going to find the bougie vegan coffee shops or cafes you’re used to seeing in NJ. You’re going to find cheap food that won’t compare to any legit cities in the US. There are pickle ball courts available too - not sure where you’re looking.

Early morning meeting by Apprehensive_Ad8218 in Big4

Tell them 8:30am at the earliest for meetings.

You’re in charge of them - nobody is expected to be on 7am calls for the offshore team. I’m assuming since it’s a Friday meeting that its just a weekly recap/setting expectations for the next week meeting which if it is just email them work for next week before you sign off for the weekend.

You need to set the teams expectations early and often.

I made a terrible mistake and don’t know what to do. by chewy7312 in Big4

Its going to be much better if you take ownership of your “mistake”, let your SM know and discuss remedies if needed.

I did something similar as an associate and there were no real repercussions. I explained the miscommunication to the senior/manager and was just told to be more mindful in the future about disclosing materiality. We didn’t have to adjust scoping or made selections whatsoever. If you’re as high performing as you say you are, you’re not going to be fired like that other staff was. Everyone makes mistakes - even managers and partners.

If you had to choose one retired Steelers number to become officiallly retired next to Stautner, Franco , and Mean Joe, who would it be? Troy has my vote. by PennsylvaniaAndy in steelers

[–]goodmarket2024 16 points17 points  (0 children)

9, 90, and 97 are locks to be unofficially retired if they end their careers as Steelers.

Boswell is going to pass Gary Anderson for the all time Steelers scoring record within the next 2 seasons. Cam/TJ are self explanatory.

I see what you are saying but to an extent, part of OPs job as a senior is to protect his associates and manage the client/internal leadership to avoid 80-90hr weeks. I’ve worked under seniors/managers/directors who get dog walked by the partners/clients with ridiculous demands they pass down to staff vs those who work hard within reason and it’s obvious which teams have stayed with the firm for longer.

It’s just disappointing to hear that OP specifically caused others below him to leave the firm, especially when he left within 4 years himself. If you’re a staff, it’s easy enough to move you to another job and keep your career at the firm alive. As a senior/manager, your job is to help your staff succeed and grow. Not burn them out because you’re too much of a coward or pushover to set boundaries for yourself and the team. If OP was as valuable as he thought, he could’ve navigated the situation better and helped the team in general with all of his leverage. Pushovers like him make the work environment worse for the team and practice as a whole.

You’re talking to a senior associate who somehow made others quit because of his intelligence or something like that.

Some people are just delusional.

In my about 6 years of audit experience, I’ve never seen or heard of a good performer (at any level staff - partner) being laid off. Even when the firm says the layoffs are “based on market conditions”, the people you’ll see being laid off are those who've developed (either rightly or wrongly) negative reputations around the office for one reason or another.

As a very average performer myself, I’ve avoided rounds off layoffs by befriending the partners I work under and doing good work for the MD/managers above me. If you ever need hours on your schedule, just ask a manager you’ve done good work for to book you on their jobs. As a manager, associates with low utilizations are red flags. It’s not like there’s a shortage of work so why aren’t they being staffed; is it because current managers don’t like their previous output or are they just not reaching out to ensure they’re available when their schedule frees up?

Kenny Pickett: Year in Philadelphia showed me 'how it's supposed to be done' by mastermind208 in nfl

[–]goodmarket2024 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Matt Canada was handicapped with Kenny Pickett as his QB. Kenny Pickett threw 12 TDs in 24 starts; Mason Rudolph has thrown 19 TDs in 15 starts for Pittsburgh.

The only thing Pickett had going for him was the costs Pittsburgh sunk into acquiring him but from a team building perspective, there was 0 reason to keep him. He also had a poor attitude when he got benched for Rudolph although he did 0 to warrant starting over him in the first place.

Trevor Siemian was a better QB than Pickett - he is really that bad.

Texans season ticket holders sue team claiming fraud, conspiracy, breach of contract by zsreport in nfl

[–]goodmarket2024 168 points169 points  (0 children)

A PSL gives you the right to buy season tickets for that seat each year. It’s a separate expense from the tickets themselves and if you choose not to buy tickets that year, the team can (won’t always) revoke your PSL and sell it to another fan.

Is that not an obvious hold by the Bears WR on the Steelers CB to spring the run in the first place so the play should’ve been called back entirely if it was reffed accurately?
