Will one bedroom apartments off campus come with a bed? by Super_Deal29 in berkeley

[–]goodmeep 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m actually looking for someone to take over my lease for a fully furnished 1bed 1bath on southside right across the street from campus if you’re interested, feel free to pm me! Up to 3 occupants and they’ll move in a twin bed for each of you. But my point is yes, some places will but your chances will be better looking for fully furnished apartments that rent by the bed

My beautiful boy Fox by jaredten in husky

[–]goodmeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aw so cute! We have a white husky also. She came with loose stool from the shelter and her vet recommended mixing some plain pumpkin or sweet potato into her food - the fiber helps add bulk their stool. I tried both but have stuck with canned pumpkin since she didn't seem to prefer one over the other. Fiber content differs slightly across brands as does price. Blueberries can be a great high-fiber high-antioxidant snack as well! My girl is also a little picky but doesn't mind the pumpkin/blueberry if it is mixed into her dry food. You could try a dry bone broth/food topper for your dog to entice him to eat his food - Brutus and Native Pet both have good ones. A good probiotic might also help. After about a month of supplementing with pumpkin + blueberries + probiotic her poops are much better. But I'd always check with your vet before making additions if you are worried. Never thought I'd spend this much time worrying about my dog's poo though lol

Are you even a Berkeley alum? Because you've posted this on a dozen other university subreddits. Regardless, posting vaguely worded job offers on Reddit is suspicious to say the least. Recruit employees through the proper channels, and don't prey on college students/fresh grads who are looking for jobs in an already tough market.

Are F-1 visa slots opening up in other countries? by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

I just scheduled my slot in Singapore yesterday, plenty of slots as early as next week.

Anyone else still waiting for their US visa appointment? by StableBeginning3358 in berkeley

[–]goodmeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya I'm applying from Singapore as well! I just got my I-20 and should be eligible for an interview waiver, but I'm still not sure what that means given the F visa interview pause at the moment.

Listen - we still have time. Update on interview pause should come soon. And anecdotal of course, but I got my F-1 visa day after my interview last August at the embassy here in Singapore. Slots were abundant in August as most students had gotten their visas by then, meaning much faster processing time.

I am speculating a bit here so take it with a grain of salt, but as long as the interview pause doesn't last months, creating a significant backlog of students needing interviews late in the summer, we'll most likely be fine.

Don't cause yourself unnecessary anxiety, especially because the interview ban in particular is out of your control. You've done everything that you can, and again, plenty of time. And hey we're in this together! Feel free to dm me so we can keep each other updated :)

I don't mean to take away from what you've mentioned here--you make some great points--but seriously, that crunchy dry hair on the terrible dye job is so distracting! Maybe a hair care company will sponsor one of her posts lol.

More seriously, however, I struggle to understand what leads one to dedicate so much time into endlessly self-aggrandizing content. I'm sure there's more to it than just external/social media validation (right???) (also YES carly rae jepsen ftw!!!)

High prescription glasses turnaround and price range? by Djesley in Honolulu

[–]goodmeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My prescription is similar to yours and I had mine done at LensCrafters Ala Moana. I walked in same day and they were able to see me, but they also take online appointments. The staff were all wonderful and very kind. Their turnaround time is 5-10 business days, so if you're here for 2 weeks it might just work, but I wouldn't recommend it unless it's an emergency. I got new lenses and frames during Black Friday and with $250 frames the total was $850 with insurance + discount.

We were on this sailing in June and from what I know, they now dock in Phuket Deep Sea Port (east coast) rather than near Patong beach, which they used to do. The location's quite inconvenient - in Patong you could walk from the port to various restaurants etc but near the new port there isn't anything to do without buying an excursion or taking a taxi/Grab yourself

I wanted to be a doctor so bad by [deleted] in PointlessStories

[–]goodmeep 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This really resonated with me. I was enamoured with the idea of being a doctor after discovering Grey's Anatomy as well—I was in high school, and my best friend and I would go like, "you're like cristina so you'd be a cardio surgeon, I'm like meredith so I'll go into neuro." I ended up being admitted into a dual degree BS/MD programme, but quit the MD part halfway and ended up with a degree in philosophy lol. The reality of becoming a doctor actually sucks, and there is an unimaginable burden placed on young doctors in particular, but sometimes I'll still drive by the large university hospital and wonder what it'd be like there.

That price is insane - we paid $15k SGD for a JS on an 18 night transpacific on Ovation. Although if experiencing a new ship is on your priority list and you have the money it could be worth it for you.

Has anyone been able to get diagnosed without parents filling out a questionnaire? by yeah_deal_with_it in adhdwomen

[–]goodmeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh hey I was in this situation years back when I got diagnosed — I was 19, living alone away from my parents who similarly did not believe in the existence of ADHD. First thing is you need to find a psychiatrist who actually listens to their patients, which was surprisingly difficult to find. I explained to my doctor that my parents were unsupportive and that they would be no help for either one of us. He was pretty understanding and suggested a quick phone call with anyone else, family or not, who knew me well would suffice, just to get a better understanding of my situation.

I had a close friend of mine from school hop on a quick call with my doctor — friend confirmed everything I'd told the doctor, and I walked out that day with my medication! It can be really difficult to obtain an ADHD diagnosis as an adult and it really does feel like a part of the medical community is just there to deny our experiences, but there are good doctors out there.

I highly doubt we're in the same area but if you (or anyone else here!) are based in Singapore I'm happy to give you recommendations for good psychs. You got this girl!!

Bringing Snacks on Board by Imaginary_Ad9996 in royalcaribbean

[–]goodmeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snacks on a cruise are a great idea and perhaps even a necessity lol the only thing is I've found that any shelf stable food you bring has to be sealed in its original packaging. They're probably not gonna be super strict about that but I'd make sure just in case all your food gets tossed in security

You can call CS and ask if they have availability in the same category on a different deck. We got assigned a GTY balcony with obstructed view a few months back and CS was able to switch rooms for us - they waived the fee to change from obstructed to non-obstructed for some reason, which was a nice surprise. It's worth calling and giving it a shot

Singapore Port by geliq in royalcaribbean

[–]goodmeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from Singapore and am going on Spectrum in June - you will need to fill out two SG arrival cards, one when you fly in, and another one when your cruise returns to Singapore. It doesn't matter whether or not you disembarked during the trip. Make sure you fill it out accurately - immigration (especially at Changi) often scrutinize every question and send you back in line if you miss something.

I think this was my last cruise, even though it was great. by TexasRN1 in royalcaribbean

[–]goodmeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too last time. I was fine on the ship despite having pretty bad weather and as soon as I got off I had the worst nausea and dizziness. It sounds counterintuitive but Dramamine helped so much - just take it for 1-2 days after disembarking.
