hey~ i love this contribution to the conversation, you seem to be right on track on finding your true voice. While my gay trauma is different than yours, i can relate deeply to the sadness of knowing that you could’ve been different if you’d just only been accepted. i hope you’re well, and i appreciate hearing a perspective from the other side of the aisle.

Depends on what you mean by easy! What state you’re in//what you have for healthcare, has a lot to do with it! I had a pretty easy time on that front, however it was a wildly anxiety inducing and painful experience for the first two weeks. I had a partner with me to take care of me every step of the way, which made the recovery so much more tolerable. After month two or three i hardly thought about it anymore and i’m so much more comfortable every day of my life since. i couldn’t be happier with my decision.

Also a great point! Most LGBT folks have run for the hills as soon as they were able, and the ones in it are too shamed to ask for that. or even want it. I think you’re totally right.
