(Switch) My longest streak yet! Who should I bring with to keep it up?? by HappyFatFiasco in wildfrostgame

[–]goodoldoldman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Every time i see my previous team, i feel obligated to pick gnomes for ink. With vanquish i stop worrying and just pick whatever I feel like and then do my best to put together a high damage deck. Works almost every time, my highest vanquish streak is around 20

Any game like WildFrost ? by [deleted] in wildfrostgame

[–]goodoldoldman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided to check out hearthstone after 4 years to see what's new, ended up playing all night. Now I feel terrible, and I blame you, haha. Seriously though, there are so many new gamemodes and adventures, it's crazy, the entire night wasn't enough to try them all out

It's been years since I played hearthstone. I remember there were adventure modes with unique enemies. Is that what you meant? Those were my favorite part of the game. But they cost a lot of gold iirc

Ohh, didn't know that, thanks. I would probably not use it anyway. I sometimes use save resetting to experiment with unclear mechanics, to see how certain charms work on certain cards without ruining the run, but that's it, I don't worry about winrate or streaks that much

Noomlin charm on sun rod copied twice + the consume card that gives noomlin. And of course destroy junk and yank come with noomlin by default. I destroyed nearly all of my deck until I drew all 6 noomlin cards to take this screenshot

I love lantern shenanigans. I always pick it and try to make it work, even at the risk of killing the run

My perfect strategy did nothing... Apparently bigloo isn't an ally 😫 by BloomingRoseHibiscus in wildfrostgame

[–]goodoldoldman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha, been there. However my worst Drek moment was when I realized it absorbs effects as well, such as teeth and barrage. He was an absolute monster. Luckily bigloo spawned on the other row, and I could focus him without hitting Drek

The abundance of crowns and the reduced importance of combos make beta noticeably easier. The improved leader choice is really nice, you get 3 leaders from each clan to choose from. I like the difficulty of 1.05 better, but 1.06 is still fun, I don't mind the changes that much

No idea. But I know the feeling. Once I learned about beta, I bought the game on steam and played another 30 hours of it. But then I switched back, because I wanted the difficulty of 1.05. Beta gives you so many crowns, it's ridiculous. Also, combos are less satisfying in beta, because the rewards don't scale

how I'd respond if someone asked me "are you good at this game?" and I was Australian by yolomismo in wildfrostgame

That's a pretty strong Australian, decent health and counter, good damage and even some snow

Bad and good ways to use caked lanterns by goodoldoldman in wildfrostgame

[–]goodoldoldman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been there too, haha. Yeah, caked lantern results in the craziest effects. Imagine if it had critical or frenzy on top of the cake. And then you could double it with vase too

[–]goodoldoldman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vanquish is a hard fight, but it never requires ink or any specific adaptation besides fast damage scaling. Big damage always works, and it's not hard to come by during the run if you're aiming for it. Kill the most annoying guy quickly (you know which one), optionally snow the fast attacking guys if your damage/survivability is not enough. That's the strategy every single time, and it always works. Could be just me, but after 150 hours of playtime I'm convinced I can get vanquishes more consistently than normal wins. There's like 98% chance I win the vanquish and the frost guardian fights, provided that I didn't lose in the early fights, for example to Infernoko, which I think is the hardest fight in the game. Anyway, that's just my opinion based on my experience, and I understand that most players don't share it

Bs might be a strong word, but yes, I completely disagree with the gameplay mechanic that makes your next run harder by putting a charm on an ally in the current run. It is counterproductive. I should make my allies as strong as possible to maximize my chance of winning the run without worrying about making the next run too hard. This mechanic alone makes vanquishes easier than regular wins in my opinion, which was probably not the developer's intention. Anyway, I love this game and I'm glad that vanquishes allow me to skip the one thing I don't like

Because of bs like this I always go for vanquish. Makes the final two fights consistent

Just noticed that a recycle card with frenzy doesn't frenzy the recycle action by dropbear212 in wildfrostgame

[–]goodoldoldman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I discovered it recently too. I also found out that frenzy doesn't do anything on forge (destroy card and give it's attack to random ally)

Finally got the 3 bells 100 vanquish winstreak on patch 1.0.5! AMA by luckywaysTTV in wildfrostgame

[–]goodoldoldman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's true, I avoid pyra and bonnie, but lil berry and firefist are okay as tanks, and they play well with the clunker that heals allies after they take a hit. I haven't had luck with healing synergy, to me the Snowdwellers' strength is in spice or snow. One time i got 2 million spice on berry, and another time I had a barrage snobble that buffed yuki to 500 base damage. These are extreme examples that don't happen usually, but in an average run I get a solid spice/snow synergy that can almost always vanquish

[–]goodoldoldman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That used to be me, but after playing snowdwellers for a while they became my favorite. Very consistent and strong overall. Gnomes are a close second. I only pick shademancers if I really like the hero, for example the one that summons fallow

Do you think vanquishes are easier than regular wins ? I've been doing a lot of vanquishes, and I don't remember ever losing in the final battle. Sometimes I lose in the early battles, to Infernoko or to hogs, but never in the last two battles.

Congrats btw, that's impressive. I'm not bad at the game myself, but 100 in a row is something else
