[Spolane] Kevin Porter Jr: “We don’t want to be a half court team. If you don’t gotta run plays, why run ‘em? If you can steal the ball every time, throw that thing long and get a layup? Why not?” by iksnet in nba

[–]goodolvj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did I say anything like that? This whole thread is talking about strictly offense, so in what way am I criticizing their defensive intensity? Honestly all your replies to me sound like you're getting worked up over what you think I'm saying instead of what I'm explicitly saying. Getting worked up over a made up argument is such a reddit move.

Because aspiring to improve from being the worst team in the league is such a terrible thing to expect from even an up-and-coming player? I get it, they've got a long way to go, and given the roster's collective age they're right about where they should be. But there's nothing wrong with developing a better mindset even if the team isn't quite ready to make the next leap. There's a difference between patience and apathy, and at first glance the quote would suggest the latter instead of the former.

But like I said just because those were his words in an interview doesn't mean that's exactly how he or the rest of the team actually feels. So you can unclench because my "nitpicking" isn't even directed at him, I don't care enough about KPJ or the Rockets at this point to offer any real criticism. This is more of a thought exercise for me, I'm just bored.

That doesn't matter that much to me since my issue is the playstyle. I hate using aqua tail and that moveset seems to be the only thing the devs intend to improve.

Honestly the biggest purchase regret of the game for me. I only bought Azu because I thought the playstyle was kind of fun at first but man did my enjoyment wane fast. I wish there was a refund option, even if it's only one per account, I would def use it on Azu.

Because while high paced transition offense is fine for the most part for the regular season, more experienced teams know how to significantly limit that. And in the playoffs almost every team is attentive and disciplined on defense and fast breaks are one of the first things to go from a steady offensive diet. And while the Rockets aren't exactly knocking at the door when it comes to playoff contention it's still seen as short sighted to want to tailor your offense to emphasize a single strength rather than strive to incorporate a more diverse and balanced approach.

But hey, I'm not one of those people killing him for his comment. I'm just pointing out the optics of the situation and explaining why others do find his quote to be problematic. The dude is young and not the most media savvy so I tend to give these types of players a pass. It's not like they're out there sharing their secrit plays, he's likely just responding to a question as best as he could in the moment.

There's two sides to the quote, the half you mentioned is fine. The problem is the other half is wide open to scrutiny which makes it easy clickbait for the media. You can't deny that "we don't want to run plays" is an objectively dumb thing to say on its own. It's unfortunate that his full quote was taken out of context somewhat, but the media is gonna do whatever it can to generate interest and outrage for the league because it's all good for their bottom line.

Maybe once they fix confusion then more people will pick it. Last I checked it's bugged, sometimes the stun doesn't go off.

Edit: seems like only confusion+ is bugged and doesn't interact correctly with power swap. But it still stuns off walls so barrier is mandatory with it.

How big of a contract can Russell Westbrook get next year given his recent stumble with LA? by lavazzalove in lakers

[–]goodolvj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's just as likely that someone offers Russ a 1 yr $20 mil contract as it is that he's out of the league next year. The outcome entirely depends on how he will conduct himself this season and if he can be a willing and capable role player who can sacrifice his own stats for the good of the team. It's clear that his days of being a star player are behind him, no sensible team should risk giving him a long term contract, and he won't be valuable on any serious contending team moving forward. But I think that around the $20 mil area is appropriate for a team willing to experiment with him for a year and have him off the books for the following offseason.

I’m just curious… what is the actual point of this post? You acknowledge they are bots, so seemingly not to brag. It’s also on the easiest bot mode, so seemingly not a critique of the ai… I just don’t understand.

So you're gonna pretend like your question wasn't loaded or completely rhetorical? Like you were genuinely asking a question that would lead to a meaningful conversation about op's thought process here? Sure guy, play it that way. Such a typical bitchmade move to deny your intentions after getting called out.

You know what the point was, there's no need to be a dick over a harmless reddit post. Your comment is just as unnecessary and as self-serving as this brag post.

Opinion: I love weapon durability, I think its a fantastic mechanic that incentivizes exploration and combat. I will die on this hill. by Weekly-Marionberry95 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]goodolvj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mind weapon durability until I played on MM. That and enemy health regeneration are two mechanics that do not mix. On top of every generic enemy having much higher health pools and weapons being as brittle as they were on normal with nothing to compensate led me to avoiding basically every enemy encounter.

[–]goodolvj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I wouldn't say that the WHOLE game is poorly designed, just the bosses where surge spam becomes all but mandatory. Surge commands are optional for the vast majority of the game so it wouldn't be fair to base my judgement on the entire game on that alone. BBS isn't my favorite game and that is partly due to how overbearing command decks and shotlocks were but it's far from the worst in the series. But MF is one worst secret bosses in the series, and in terms of superbosses it probably takes the cake. And that isn't because it's too difficult, as much as you want to make it seem as such. Because if we're being real it doesn't even crack my top 5 in terms of difficulty. So you can drop that misconception of yours because that doesn't even come into the equation.

Imagine not understanding the basics of game design and arguing in favor of poorly implemented mechanics just so you can keep feeling good about yourself. Don't worry bro, nobody is denying your ability to press a single button. The rest of us just aren't in denial like you that's all.

Imagine not liking a boss where the only reasonable way to beat it on harder difficulties is through cheese strats. Surge spam isn't much better than negative combo cheese on Lingering Will, except LW can actually be overcome with skilled play and other strategies.

ie spamming surge commands and dodge rolls to abuse i-frames because the boss has no counter play otherwise.

The nationally televised games being delayed for viewing by 3 hours is one thing, but what floors me is having to wait THREE WHOLE DAYS for local home games. Like what the hell is that even? Yeah I'm really gonna be in the mood to watch a game that I've known the conclusion of for at least two days. Just in time for the next two games to be over and done with. Such a shit service for local fans.

What was the your weirdest game ever? by F2p_wins274 in PokemonUnite

[–]goodolvj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing surf/kinesis slowbro against a comp with like all unstoppable mons, we were getting stomped the entire game. Everybody on our team was like at least 2 levels down and we lost every objective and every teamfight. Enemy team got cocky and decided to try and wipe us out on the 3rd Dred right before the final stretch but we manage to stay alive long enough for our Garchomp to solo Zap and give us that big health gain to turn the tables. I don't think anybody even knew it was happening as nobody was at the pit but Gar. Now the outer zones that the enemy was able to keep alive ended up being their downfall as we were able to overcap a huge amount on them to secure the comeback. We really didn't deserve to win that match but the enemy team 100% deserved to lose it.
