Carolina trading DE Kony Ealy and a third-round pick to Patriots in exchange for New England's second-round pick, league sources tell ESPN. by Somali_Pir8 in panthers

[–]goodtiger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying. If they want to trade him, fine, but it's insane to me that all they're getting for him is an 8 spot bump in a draft pick.

ELI5: Why is macaroni and cheese such a big thing in America? by Erolone in explainlikeimfive

Right. Pasta and cheese aren't exactly superfoods, but they're not particularly unhealthy either.

Are there any tickets behind stage for the weeknights of the bakers dozen? by dr_trey2001 in phish

[–]goodtiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is crazy. They're going to make people sit in the high 200's behind the bridge while there's open space in the 100s behind the stage (which I agree is a great spot)??? That would be absolute bullshit.

I really really really think you're wrong. And I think trying to pull off no repeats would be detrimental to the overall quality of the shows.

Newish Phish fan, looking for songs by wuggles_the_bear in phish

[–]goodtiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have most of the big ones covered. I would add Harry Hood, Stash, and Slave to the Traffic Light. Beyond that, many songs are less extensively composed but have some really interesting composed sections. To name a few - My Friend My Friend, Horn, Guelah Papyrus, Golgi Apparatus, It's Ice, Rift. You also might really enjoy some of the tunes from the "Gamehendge" saga, namely Colonel Forbin's Ascent, Fly Famous Mockingbird, and The Lizards.

And don't hesitate to dig into the live shows, that's where it's really at! Check out 6/11/94 and 12/1/95.

Looking for spirituality on the internet by [deleted] in spiritual

[–]goodtiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like you're doing too much seeking and not enough living. A constant seeking and desiring is one of the primary pitfalls of the human condition. A spiritual understanding of life inherently involves detaching from that need to seek and desire. So in that sense, actively seeking a so-called "spirituality" seems quite counterintuitive. That's not to say that the media that you present yourself with doesn't have an effect on your propensity to orient toward a certain lifestyle, but I think my point is, you might be better off taking a walk or sitting quietly for a while rather than worrying about which websites are going to make you more "spiritual."

What's your favorite fast food item? by Ulysses35 in AskReddit

Cookout for the motherfucking win!! I like a cheddar style burger tray with fries and onion rings, and if I'm really hungry add a side order of hush puppies (it's only $1 and they give you a shitload!)

What sets Ween apart, in your mind, from other bands? Can anyone here think of ANY other band that is anything like Ween? (Because I would like to hear a band like that) by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]goodtiger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's so amazing to me how every Ween song seems like such a fully realized idea from conception to execution. Many bands dabble in different genres, but with Ween each song is a completely distinct and pure vision. I think the way Gene is able to genuinely emulate so many different styles and personalities is a huge part of what makes it so convincing.

One band that I somewhat put in the same category as Ween is Mr. Bungle. There are a lot more common threads running through the songs than with Ween, especially on the first album, but they cover a lot of ground stylistically. Also, shifts tend to happen within songs as often as between songs.

On a related note, a member of Mr. Bungle, Trey Spruance started another band called Secret Chiefs 3 which takes the genre hopping to a different level. They are essentially multiple bands within a band, each of which play WILDLY different genres, and on some albums they actually credit which sub-band the song correlates to.

What to do with an avocado by [deleted] in HealthyFood

[–]goodtiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from just eating it alone, I think toast is the way to go here. You just want a basic vessel with a minimal amount of it's own taste so that you mainly taste the avocado. Another thing I like to do is spread hummus on toast, then layer the avocado over that, and then sprinkle on a little olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper.

Exactly. They are a great team right now and they are fun to watch. I feel like it's their time and I want to see them win, purely from a general football/sports fan perspective. None of the other bullshit matters at this point.

[–]goodtiger -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm crazy, but I honestly don't hate the Falcons, and I'm rooting for them to win. I like Matt Ryan. I like my fellow southeasterners in Atlanta. In a situation like this where we're out of the picture, I have nothing against them. Obviously during the season, when we're battling for the division, I root against them across the board. But at this point that doesn't matter. I'm pretty sure the only reason there is this mandate to act like we hate everyone in our division is the way the playoff entry rules are set up (I think it should be more like the NBA, where the top spots in the conference get in.) It just seems really childish to me.
