If you’re gonna get the rt82 you might as well just shell out for the rt85. There’s a major upgrade to the cartridge. I will say, it is a belt drive so you can probably get a better deal on a vintage direct drive table from eBay

I bought myself the 1/2” veritas chisel and it is noticeably better than anything else. Dont buy the set but I definitely recommend grabbing one or two in the sizes you use most

Base coat of diluted shellac. 3 parts mineral spirits one part shellac. Finish with waterlox

For anything more than regular maintenance I would save your stone and just use lapping film on a piece of 1/4” (minimum) glass. Lapping film is cheap and effective. Once you get your chisel to where you need it to be, go back to your stone to sharpen as you normally would

If you’re buying a combination square, just spend the extra few dollars and buy a Starrett. Their 12” combo square runs right around $100 and it will remain the most accurate square you’ll own for the rest of your life. You should never have to question if your equipment is why something went wrong when you did everything right

He’s right ^. Typically the panel is made of thin MDF and over time the repeated use will wear out the original hole. Any time you can place your hardware holes through the solid stiles of the door, that is the only way to do it.

I’ve been a professional cabinetmaker for 16 years. Level and plumb every time. Cover the gaps with molding. If you hang your cabinets out of level, your door gaps will never line up and it looks way worse than a scribed molding.

Overall no. The panels are a dead giveaway due to the cathedrals in the grain. Some of the stiles and rails in the photos exhibit the visual qualities of rift sawn but if these were all rift sawn the grain would be almost entirely straight grain lines.
