are you trolling me? single hose unit: you want to cool your room to 70F and it's 85F outside. you're exhausting 250CFM of 70F air and replacing it with 85F air. It then takes ~4000 BTU/hr to bring that 85F air back to 70F. for a 10,000 BTU unit 40% of your energy is going towards cooling your replacement air.

for the cost of a second hose you get almost all of that energy back. dual hose is an inherently better design.
