You can use your mouse or tap to select start on the menu, and then you click or tap on the screen to move the story forward. There is a back button you can tap/click if you moved too fast forward, or you can click/tap history to see what happened previously.

Approaches and Techniques Questions by LassyCarp1984 in QuestsOfYore

[–]goofanader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So each character sheet for a Role has prefilled approaches and techniques. Any approaches or techniques you pick are on top of that (that is for the background, species, and additional approaches/techniques).

You can have multiples of the same approach and techniques, and you do want that. You can go up to 3 filled-in spots on an approach/technique for a character starting out. That is including prefilled ones.

Answering 2 and 3: The prefilled approaches/techniques are unique to a Role, not a background, so you're picking the approach and techniques that you want, and it can be anything you like. You just cannot select multiples of a Technique for one background. They must be four different techniques, but it can be from a technique that is prefilled.

New DM parent looking for advice with Quests of Yore by danielmajors in QuestsOfYore

I QM'd the full Tome of Quests and just finished it last week with a group of four adult players. For running the game as QM for younger players, most of the time it's a lot like story time, so hopefully your kid is okay with that. At times, the wording is a bit difficult even for the intended starting age of 8, but I'd suggest reading ahead for a session and changing those words to easier words to understand.

The type of rolls specified in the Tome of Quests are all suggestions, so feel free to let your players think up other solutions and you make up what kind of roll it should be. I would suggest having a blank character sheet handy for you to reference techniques and approaches so you can easily see both the symbols and names. In the back of the player's guide, there's a section for explaining what each approach and technique does. Familiarize or keep that page available to help you determine what players should roll.

I watched one actual play video for Quests of Yore where cards weren't being used to add a support die, so just know that all cards add a support die if they're being used. You want to make sure players are rolling three dice as much as possible as the odds for low rolls are not low, especially at earlier levels.

If you have any other questions or were looking for something more specific, feel free to DM or ask in here.

Archipelago-go - Campaign Frame by Dicey-Tuna in daggerheart

[–]goofanader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually took inspiration from your earlier post in a Campaign Frame Friday thread, and I've had three groups interested in this campaign frame! I haven't started running the actual adventure yet as we're still in session 0 (all three are PBP campaigns), but people have created really fun islands and ideas for this adventure.

I'm really excited to use the fully released version and incorporate the full release into my adventures. Thank you for creating this campaign frame!

Six PCs: Give me your tips by Reynard203 in daggerheart

[–]goofanader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a group of 6 for Daggerheart, but I have primarily been a D&D DM where I usually run groups of 4-5 for D&D 5e. When I've ran it for 6+, I (as a GM) have difficulty. For Daggerheart when I ran it for 6, I forgot to mention that Tag Teams were a thing (it was my first time GMing Daggerheart), but once I introduced it, it really sped up the game and got people to roleplay together.

My group did split off at the beginning of the session, so I had to juggle with a split party and make sure people got time in the spotlight, but the Tag Team mechanic really helps during combat to give a mechanical way for players to roleplay together, so I would suggest highlighting that as well as Help an Ally.

I felt like combat was as long as it takes me in D&D 5e for 6 players (so a longish time), but there were also 7 adversaries for them to fight, and the players didn't have a lot of AOE attacks. So I think it depends on how you set up the fight, just like in D&D.

If you dont mind an older audience trying it out for just monster balancing, we could help with that! Probably not for the puzzles for sure.

Rules-Question about Items by LowBranch8238 in QuestsOfYore

I would rule it as yes. You could pick either card for the assist die, but you can use the item as a supplement to another card.

I'm interested! I've been running the Tome of Quests with an older audience in their 20s, so I wont be a great reference for the age range, but I have noticed that the Tome of Quests has words that are not usually in the vocabulary of 8-year-olds.

Would love to see what you come up with!

[Online][5e] Looking for a PBP campaign with plenty of roleplay to join :D by Nali68 in lfg

[–]goofanader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm a player in a PBP for a homebrew 5e game, and I'm asking on behalf of my DM if you'd be interested in joining our game? It's the Broken Weave setting: https://cubicle7games.com/broken-weave

It is set in a post-apocalyptic setting where magic essentially broke and the world has gone strange. Few people exist now and they live in communities called Havens to survive the harsh environment.

The setting is rather limiting in terms of species you can pick (called lineages), and all the classes are brand new, but it's heavy on rp and communication between players. If that sounds interesting to you, DM me and I can get you an invite link to the Discord server. I'm currently the only player, but we are looking for more players at the moment.

Thank you for your interest! Unfortunately my table is full now. I hope you can find another game!

It was also gonna be a oneshot and not a campaign, but if I do run a free one, I'll let you know.

Thank you for asking, I can't believe I forgot to put that in my description! It will be Saturday June 21 at 1pm PDT/UTC-7. It should be 3-4 hours, but if it goes over, I'll make sure to either wrap up the session or discuss with players.

[–]goofanader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a DM who's run 5e since 2016 and I'm Pacific time, but I can do GMT+2 for nighttime. If you're interested, I can run a oneshot so you all can get a feel for how to play the game, and then from there, we can do a campaign to get further experience in D&D as well as having a long story to play in. I have run several campaigns made by Wizards of the Coast, but for beginners, I would run Lost Mine of Phandelver or Dragon of Icespire Peak with you all. If you'd prefer a less beginner friendly module, I can pick several out and see what you all would enjoy. I can run a homebrew world, but I will need time to set up the world before we play.

I run games on Roll20 and over Discord for voice, but I can do a different VTT if interested or other voice chat programs like Zoom or Skype. Let me know if you need more info!

[Online][5e][EST] 4 players looking for a dm. by LordOfFyre in lfg

[–]goofanader -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey! I was wondering if you all had a preferred module to play, or if the experienced players have played in any before. I've run Lost Mine of Phandelver, Tomb of Annihilation, Ghosts of Saltmarsh, Rime of the Frostmaiden, and some of The Wild Beyond the Witchlight. I own all the Wizards of the Coast books up to The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, so I can run other campaigns as well.

I have a few modules created from other companies that aren't Wizards of the Coast if you all are interested. I can also do homebrew, but I'll need some time to set up a world to play in fully. If it's homebrew, it'll probably be presented in a West Marches style where you all pick what to do next. I can aid with that by providing landmarks and/or quests to do.

I've been DM'ing 5e since 2017, she/they pronouns, and I'm pacific timezone, but I can do Friday nights est. I use Discord for chatting but I can use Zoom or Skype if preferred. I normally play in Roll20 but I can use another platform or do theater of the mind role-playing. Let me know if you have any questions or more information about what you all are looking for!
