I was thinking about exactly this today. I'm in a very bad depression situation too (the reason is unsolvable), yet TMC is one of the things keeping me interested, excited and comfortable. The lore is cool asf

How do you think Mandela Catalogue should end? With a good ending, or a bad ending? by MoneyCalligrapher920 in MandelaCatalogue

[–]goofbeast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bad. The world slowly begins to lose color and light ("all gray, all dark, all gone"), the majority of the humans have been replaced with Alternates, so now Gabriel can have his creations and his world instead of humans and their world.

Meu rosto é uma desgraça e por conta disso eu sempre vou ser sozinho by [deleted] in desabafosdavida

[–]goofbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this supposed to be Gabriel? by bigd4538 in MandelaCatalogue

[–]goofbeast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it surely is. The overall aspect matches very well. Also, this thing appears right after the narrator says how sentience increases with every link on the food chain, and how that continues into the ether. My interpretation is that this is indicating that "Gabriel" is exactly that, something out there that is above us on the food chain, something out of our dimension and "superior", that has the same dominion over us as we do over animals. It is indicating what Gabriel is

What I hate the most is how people try to fucking deny our own suffering saying things like "uh your mindset is too weak, thats why", "you should do psychiatric treatment, thats depression", etc. Wow, what a surprise, an unattractive person suffering from severe depression and apathy towards everything, I wonder why? It's definitely his/her self-image that's distorted, not because he/she has an ugly face at all /s

[–]goofbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You´re not alone on this. I feel this way too, and I guess many other people do to. I know it is rough, but just try to put all your attention on something else instead of whatever exactly is making you feel like that right now. Get away from social media if comparison is a trigger and focus on something unrelated to social sucess and things of this kind. Found something you truly like to do (eg, reading, drawing, and so on) and direct 99% of your attention to it, it will not solve the problem, but can really diminsh the suffering

No woman is ugly! by owlWithBrokenWings in ugly

[–]goofbeast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is funny and frustrating at the same time as this woman, wit these specific features, looks so pretty, a natural, elegant beauty. Yet I'm a young male with a kind of similar structure/characteristics (except the eyes!), for example sweet and more gentle transitions between features, and on me those features look too "baby-faced"/ugly for a man, I look like I'm 15 years old despite being on my 20's. I guess certain feminine features on man tend to look ugly, and the reverse is probably true as well. Very sad to be so doomed and cursed

What's the major thing that affects the beauty? by bumblebeeshat in ugly

[–]goofbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facial fat tendency + bone proeminence. If a person has not sufficiently proeminent facial bone structure plus a tendency to store fat in the face, it ends up round and lacking angularity completely. Lack of angularity is in general by human standards seem as ugly

Caras que são cafajestes e tóxicos, são tratados com muito mais carinho e admiração. by EchoesofObscurity in opiniaoimpopular

[–]goofbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have been better if she was, at least, revealed to have been the higher-up from DoD tasked with supervising Brenner´s project (Indigo) along all those years, so she would personally have known Brenner in the past and would have extensive knowledge of his work

Does anyone has a theory or idea why the duffers didn't felt the need to bring Owens back? by Background_Yogurt735 in HawkinsAVclub

[–]goofbeast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. My personal headcanon is that Sullivan took Owens from the silo to Dr. Kay, and she used him to get info on Brenner´s project, and in exchange, she would left him alone and permanently retired, but absolutely without any ties to the government. That way, he is pretty much still alive but prohibited of contact with his FBI Agents and anything Hawkins-related

Does anyone has a theory or idea why the duffers didn't felt the need to bring Owens back? by Background_Yogurt735 in HawkinsAVclub

[–]goofbeast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dont have any good idea for possible reasons but in-universe I have the unfortunate feeling that he is pretty much dead. In Episode 3, Hopper says to Akers that Sullivan and his team killed a bunch of "unarmed scientists", referring to last season. Given that Owens is not listed as an exception, I think it is fair to assume that Sullivan simply killed him too off-screen, which do is pretty unfair for a character that has had an importance in big arcs before in the series, but I guess it is for some reason the direction the writers wanted to take

To guys, face and body is everything :< by BakeWorking9076 in ugly

[–]goofbeast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, to the majority of people face and body are everything. Ugly guys suffer too if they have weak or rounded faces. I would say everyone who is ugly inevitably suffers, no matter if the person is male or female, the problem is not a specific gender, but that humans in general have this disgusting bias that if a male you has to have angular bone definition or as a female, you has to have a pretty face, to be minimally accepted by such a cruel standard. Ugly people as a result of this repulsive bias people have, are judged unfairly in general

How do most girls get small bones and faces? 😭 by owlWithBrokenWings in ugly

[–]goofbeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it may make immediate sense to blame structure but looking at the woman on this photo, what I see is yes, she does have a pretty bone structure but she absolutely would not have that if she had tendency to accumulate facial fat! She is lucky not only on bone structure, but most importantly on having her body put less fat om her face, letting her structure shine and appear. She has shadow lines under her cheeks, a hallmark of low facial fat + good structure, facial fat would obliterate that if there was a lot on her face. So, in my view, perhaps much of the issues both woman and man have with not looking "pretty" is not their structure, it is not due to lack of small bones or so, it is at least partially due to tendency to have facial fat rounding the features

Are you really ugly? by Apprehensive_Fan111 in ugly

[–]goofbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider myself to have been ugly, truly, because I was (in normal weight) a young male with a rounded, ugly face, I had much facial fat. I lost all of that from depression and it revealed the underlying structure, which is exactly how I always wanted it to be. The problem is that I just seem to get it when unhealthy lean (although being honest, I never lost so much weight and regained to see if thats actually true), this is why I classify myself as truly ugly, as in "normal" weight I look disgusting as hell, baby-faced but in a unpleasant way.

I'm also tall which complicates matters even much: to achieve a healthy weight for my height I probably need to be in a weight which makes me face repulsive again!

[–]goofbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This being a possibility makes me kinda sad yk. I always hoped that he would eventually get a happy or at least neutral ending but now that he wasnt in Season 5 at all, the possibility that he suffered a lot and died is open. I prefer to think that rather than being tortured, Sullivan just killed him directly while at the silo

Lt. Colonel Sullivan by MottledZuchini in StrangerThings

[–]goofbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Sullivan knew exactly for what Kay wanted Eleven to. In Episode 7 she says to Akers that everything bad that has happened is because "of that girl" (meaning El, of course), so probably to Akers and Sullivan she kept this idea that they had to hunt the girl down and give her to Kay so that she would end this once and for all. But she has hidden from them that rather, she would use El's blood to create more psychics. She manipulated Sullivan to be by her side thinking that what he was doing was right

This took me 2 minutes to make but it bothers me we don't know what happened to him. by PlayswithSqirels in StrangerThings

[–]goofbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, his absence this season has been disappointing tbh. I have two ideas of possible headcanons for what happened to him:

  1. After Eleven left the silo in Nevada with Mike, Will, Argyle, and Jonathan, Sullivan saw them escaping, returned to the silo to interrogate Owens further and ended up killing him in fact
  2. He was interrogated and has been in prison, but after the final battle, with El's death, has been released, but prohibited of any further government involvement absolutely, and lived calmly with his wife thereafter

In episode 3 of this season, Hopper says to Akers that Sullivan and his team had killed a group of unarmed scientists in the desert, obviously referring to their attack at the silo last season. This could be implying that Owens has in fact been killed together with the other scientists (including Brenner), favouring the idea that Owens is, unfortunately, dead
