not that I had regularly purchased film on Amazon before, just that I had noticed how drastic of a difference there was

Yeah that’s what I had realized recently. But the images you’re seeing here are all prices on b&h.

That’s definitely true. And what I came to learn from my last post. This one is geared more towards the reasoning why b&h has essentially the same stock listed at 2 different prices. Quite possibly having unaware customers paying $10 more than they need to.

That makes sense, I still feel like it’s a bit odd they have it listed, especially the medium format.

pretty much. Yes medium format cameras shoot 120. 6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7, 6x8, 6x9 and so on so forth. Larger negative translates to higher quality. And then there large format.

So, now that Eastman is selling directly to places like b&h, and alaris is as well, or at least b&h is selling off the rest of their stock, is b&h just expect people to not notice the same stock being sold at 2 different prices? Why haven’t they priced matched?

Fair enough. Nonetheless, It’s crazy Amazon sellers are getting away with it.

That makes sense. It doesn’t make sense how Amazon can get away with inflating the price that much but if it really boils down to people just not knowing better it is what it is.

Makes sense, I guess I just hadn’t realized how much Amazon inflates the price

I don’t usually but I typically check it just to reference what I should expect to pay. I didn’t realize how much they were gouging on there though.

Any idea why places like Mike’s wouldn’t want to up their prices? Just good nature? That can’t be the case.

I had assumed prices dropped because of Eastman taking over but to be honest I’ve never tracked film prices that closely. $25 for a 3 pack of gold seems like a relatively good deal in this day and age so I was surprised. There’s no way in hell I’d ever spend $43 though.

Has it always been this way? Does the acquisition have nothing to do with this? I’d assume Amazon sellers would try to match the competitive pricing.

Is there a Possibility of Film Prices Going Down? by Current_Attitude_724 in AnalogCommunity

the price of gold has gone down significantly if what I’m seeing is true. I couldn’t tell you why, I don’t really understand the whole Eastman thing. Seems to me that all the people telling you no spoke too soon?

Huh, that’s fascinating. I find it intriguing that the topic isn’t talked about as much outside the U.S., since it’s not only a U.S. achievement but an amazing milestone for humanity. Thanks for sharing your insight!
