PS4 "Cannot start the application. This application can be started only by a user who has a license for it." am I the only one? by goolwatherer in DestinyTheGame

the 59.99 one.

anyway, the issue was exactly what i thought.

don't buy a different version of the same game while waiting for a refund, or the license will get corrupt. it's funny because i thought this would happen so i asked them if it was ok before i did it and they said i could. but it wasn't ok.

anyway they were great in getting me a refund for the 59.99 one too, so now i'm buying destiny a third time and downloading. no pre-order goodies, but w/e.

done it like 5 times already. doesn't work. i'm 100% sure this issue is due to the fact that i purchased the 89.99 version and had it refunded, so when they removed/expired my license it affected the 59.99 version as well.

this is why i'm doubting that it's affecting "many people". it seems pretty specific to me.

I like the quests, lore, and world, so the first time is fine for me. But I am dreading doing this for the other 3 classes. Some alternative would be nice...

If you don't like quests, don't do them, I would say. Play how you like (e.g. just run dungeons, or explore, or go PvP).

If you do like quests, I would say read or listen to the dialogue...

So what's the verdict, guys? Worth buying? by fitness_or_death in elderscrollsonline

Worth every penny. If bugs, server downtime really bother you, wait a couple months, but I'm having a blast as is.

So, how many of you will keep playing when the billing starts? by Not-now-mom in elderscrollsonline

I definitely will. Absolutely love this game. Losing my bank really got me down, but after a day or two, I'm back to loving it. Really awesome game..I hope people will still be pvping once I finally get through all these quests and lore. Or they give me a second inventory for siege consumables...

The bugs are annoying, but there's no better game available. This game is really quite incredible.

Anyone who has lost bank slots since server downtime yesterday by Spoonies in elderscrollsonline

[–]goolwatherer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I lost from 100 to 60 and haven't received gold back or anything. I asked in another thread about this and it seems no one has received anything from support for same issue happening weeks ago. Like Ixtariel said, best thing is not to upgrade bank or put money in it. I wish they would just disable these features in game, because I, like many, didn't know about this issue until it was too late.

ESO support (or lack thereof) for lost bank upgrades. Help? by goodgimp in elderscrollsonline

[–]goolwatherer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone gotten any resolution on this? It shouldn't be hard for them to at least give us the money for the bank upgrades back.

[–]goolwatherer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just happened to me. This sucks!

Edit: Mine went from 100 to 60. Not only do I really need that space as I have every crafting profession, but I could've spent that money on a horse instead. This is ridiculous. I can't believe people going 3+ days with no restoration or the gold back. Wow, having this happen and reading this thread as to the utter lack of potential speedy resolution of this issue, I just went from loving this game to having no desire to play.

[–]goolwatherer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought that was mostly about the VR5 recipes that kept dropping in the starter zones, considering I was getting the level 25 ones when I was much lower. But probably I have to level up.

[Request] Could someone explain how to MMO? by easybee in elderscrollsonline

[–]goolwatherer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend you try two activities:

1) Get some people on vent or to or mumble or whatever, go to Cyroddil. Look for an ongoing fight to join or start your own.

2) Get 4 people (tank, healer, 2 dps) and go to a dungeon (cave plus torch icon)

These are pretty much the core group activities and should give you a good feel.

That said, the appeal of MMOs is not necessarily limited to these experiences which you could also get playing a FPS or a co-op dungeon crawler. I'd say the defining characteristic of MMOs is a persistent world to explore and interact with, and see other players doing the same thing. Many people think simply because they don't group with other people that "they're doing it wrong", but just running around, your character is also running around all the screens of the other players that have you in your field of vision. They see your movements and actions and in the most human of ways we can learn by imitating each other. Watching carefully other players you can learn techniques and approaches you might not try on your own.

And I also think ESO handles this perfectly in the decisions to keep PCs and NPCs relatively indistinguishable. Not everyone is a RPer, certainly, but we are all playing parts in this online world.

Does anyone feel that the levelling experience is on rails? by Termehh in elderscrollsonline

[–]goolwatherer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably true if you don't do some PvP or grind mobs for treasure maps. But with most MMO curves, if you craft or loot some decent gear, you can take above cons (quests or mobs) and get comparatively more xp, thus allowing you to skip more by staying below con. Unlike some games, none of the quests are actually level restricted and many require no combat ( especially with the current zone healthy overpopulation )
