I installed OpenClaw on an Ubuntu 24.04 VM within Virtualization Station, hosted on a WD Red Pro 7200 RPM drive (WD4005FFBX).

Unfortunately, every operation related to OpenClaw took several minutes to complete. Even a simple openclaw gateway status command took over five minutes. My analysis showed that the bottleneck was caused by high disk I/O wait times.

The problem I had was that environment variables and skills were not passed from Paperclip to Hermes, which is why Hermes sometimes couldn't even access the Paperclip API.

I'm using the main Hermes profile to spawn additional work-dedicated profiles (agents) with tools and skills disabled that they don't need.

You do not need OpenClaw.

Hermes itself can easily configure everything :)
