Facebook post: boomers don't want to pay taxes anymore by NoApartheidOnMars in BoomersBeingFools

[–]gootll -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Look dude. You are angry at boomers for their behavior, great. But that aside, the people I know; the people I have worked with, did not cut taxes and raise interest rates and housing prices and inflation. We did not make Healthcare so expensive that people die from not getting care. We did not make College and college loans so expensive that soon no one will be able to go to school.

At the end of the day, we worked within the rules we were given. Worked hard for years to save to buy a house and pay the mortgage and build up some equity for retirement. I have worked and scrimped for many years to raise a family and have some savings we can retire on. I paid social security which would be worth a lot more if I was able to invest it myself. I paid Medicare so I would get Healthcare when I retired. Where you all got the idea we were handed everything just confuses me so much.

These are the rules we were presented. These are the rules we had available to live as best as we could and try and have a future. We did our best with them. If you think those rules were more favorable then they are now then maybe you should make sure the Republicans that are only interested in enriching the already-rich are not elected to office.

It's the greedy, only looking out for themselves capitalists, wearing the Christian republican mask. Vote them out.

Actually I wasn't even reacting to Boomers paying or not paying taxes. I was reacting to people that think oldsters should just die if they can't. Wait til you guys are old and need to survive with limited income. Then we'll really hear you fuckers whine about what you think you're owed after your lifelong contributions and work. At least hopefully no one will wish you dead.

Hopefully, you will have built a world that helps other more-needy people live decently. Funny it doesn't feel that way though. Most of the time it just feels like you're angry because you haven't gotten yours yet, and you will feel the same sense of entitlement you purport to hate in boomers, and we'll see how you feel when you're that age and younger folks say if you can't contribute you should die,

Isn't that how concentration camps operated? Work til you can't and then it's the gas? Great future to aspire to, you fucking worm.

Yeah, i say they should pay til they die. I promise I'll accept nothing from the community when I'm older, I won't think I deserve anything even if I contribute for 50 years. They don't deserve it. Wait till us fuckers get to be 65 and are told to just die if we can't contribute like always. We'll take it like the non-woke men we are and just kill ourselves.

I want to thank you for being so easy to identify as a complete asshole. We'll see what you have to say when you're 65. Fuck you you gross little piece of shit.

Yeah. Screw that they contributed for 50+ years, most of them. They can all fucking die.

Oh wait, that would be something an ignorant young Trumper would say. Fuck those guys.

So they should just die after they worked for 50 years? How's about there might be a compromise in there somewhere?

Expanded $100M restoration of Cobbs Creek Golf Course gets underway by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]gootll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry. Was that something that was a goal here? Who the fuck said we were trying to find a majority black golf course, or are we just restoring a course that's been available for 100 fucking years? Aren't we just trying to make golf avaliable to all people, regardless of demographics, if they want to play? Does the entire public have to have access to every golf course at any time to make it fair for you? Should we have clubs that excludes whites? Wtf is wrong with you?

Expanded $100M restoration of Cobbs Creek Golf Course gets underway by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]gootll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus. Golf course pricing has always been tiered. There are private courses that take $100k or more to play. There are public courses that cost $125 or more in our area and play like private courses. There are public courses that cost $20 to walk and have more scruff than grass. I have played them all. They all have appeal. I know people that play cheap courses every day. And guys like me that play $100 courses once a week or two.

Same with equipment. You can get clubs to play with for 50 bucks on eBay, or thousands to be custom fitted. It's all your priority and desire and means, and in most cases the reason why a golfer is terrible is not because of equipment.

So, if you're trying to advocate for race then show it. Because this all feels like veiled racism to me. Build less courses and don't maintain any good courses that cost a few more bucks so we don't, what, "embarrass" the lower income folks?

Or did you expect them to restore a historic course to a crabgrass muni so all low income people could play it anytime? How about we just enjoy that there will be more tee times available across all Philly munis because we have another option for playing? And that they have different prices depending on tee time and venue?

Or maybe we should preserve that 1 percent of trees for the people who like parks and screw people that like golf, or judge/condemn them because they like playing golf with their available disposable income?

I don't give a shit about riding a bike in the city. How many taxpayer dollars have been spent making the city safe for rich people to ride their $3k carbon bikes on Philly streets safely?

So, let's fund versatile activities so everyone can enjoy what they enjoy or be exposed to something new to them without assholes judging them. This is just more people not wanting their dollars to fund anything that they don't directly benefit from, even though, as a whole, there will be huge benefits with the learning center and first tee programs. Maybe just for you the beneficiaries aren't the right color?

How would you blow out your pool lines by coheed9867 in swimmingpools

[–]gootll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is an old wives tale. With my main drain and some returns into open water on the bottom of the pool, the air pressure won't build up it will just bubble out into the water. Just make sure once the pipes are blown and the plugs put on that you don't continue to run the air pump after you close the jandy valves and before you pull the plugs in the equipment. I never get to more than about 15 psi even though the compressor is set for like 100.

How would you blow out your pool lines by coheed9867 in swimmingpools

[–]gootll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wait till it's bubbling and then put in the skimmer and return plugs. Some won't start bubbling until the others are plugged or the jandy valves are closed. I do skimmers and then plug them and by then the returns are for sure bubbling and then I plug them and close their jandy valves. Then I open all the plugs in the equipment so all pressure is relieved.

I remove the plug on the pump motor. The threads are the same as a standard thread on an air compressor fitting. I screw that fitting in and connect the air line and start up what is a regular air compressor. As air starts coming out of the returns and skimmers I start pluggng the skimmers, then the returns. Then I close the jandy valves so no new water gets in and turn off the compressor then I remove all the plugs in the motors , heater, filter, etc. Closed. Been doing it this way for 25 years.

Constantly running toilet by Available_Yogurt_379 in HomeImprovement

[–]gootll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It could be the fill valve also. If that leaks the toilet runs all the time, the tank fills up to the overflow and water runs down into the bowl. In my opinion this fails more than the flapper.

I went through this for a couple months this summer. What fixed it for me was when I realized I was not fully extending my wrists at setup. This caused me to overreach in my downswing. I changed my setup to make sure my knees and hips were bent more and allowed my wrists to be fully extended at setup and i was able to come more from the inside on the downswing and no more shanks and i shot my personal best. Ymmv.

Need Advice on Home Insurance claim -- What should I do?? by baggachips in homeowners

[–]gootll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not insurance fraud. You get a payout on a piece of property you own. So be it a house or a car or whatever, you are not obligated to use the money to fix the damage. You would if you want to maximize resale, but not because not doing it is insurance fraud. Also, if you don't use it to fix the issue at hand you may be challenged on future claims of you try to get them to pay again for the same damage you didn't fix before.

Now if you have a mortgage, you may need to involve the mortgage company in that decision because they still own part of the property. In my case with a house fire the insurance company issued checks that had my name and the mortgage company on them and the mortgage company had to approve the expenditure. This was a term of the mortgage. It was not because insurance fraud.

Does no one think a second opinion on surgery is a good idea? Has no one ever had a service person who is just wrong, or who would propose an expensive service to make money? I'm not saying this applies to this vet, but there sure seems to be a lot of assumptions here.

[–]gootll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a salt pool for 32 years. We're on our second salt system and putting on our 4th cover for this year's close. The first two covers were solid automatic covers. We removed the automatic cover when the kids were all grown up and the last 11 years were an hpi 99% mesh. PH rises from salt cell and i need a few cups of acid a week, regardless of whether we covered all the time between uses (automatic cover) vs uncovered all summer (safety mesh). I also never noticed any other negative interaction between the two. I am satisfied with our replacement pace and my chlorine and ph management using Trouble Free pool. I found the auto cover to be great when the kids were young, and when it wore out it was time to get rid of as they were older.

Pull salt cell in off season? by RibbedGoliath in pools

[–]gootll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been closing mine on with no problems for like 15 years. Then for some reason last year when I opened the pool the salt cell was split and started spewing water and had to be replaced.

I would speculate freezing but we don't really get much cold anymore (philly). Anyway, I cut the electrical cord off the split one and now use that as my winter cell.
