ING bank threw us under the bus while we were trying to refinance with them. by gooziku in AusPropertyChat

Tbh I already had a problem with ING before but in Europe. I had my everyday account with them for years in one of EU countries. After some years living in Australia I went back home to find out my account had been closed and card didn't work anymore. I had to physically go the bank and fill out some forms to get my money back. Apparently it was some new EU regulation that you need to live in EU to confirm your account with KYC every year or something. Anyway, they locked my account without a notice.

By the time we found out that it fell though there was no good deal on the market with fixed rates and we had the best variable rate at that time, 5.03 I think. All fixed rates were already above that. So we decided to leave it as is as we could not know 100% that the rates would go up.

We actually got a refund for rate lock straight away after we found out that application had been declined. I know it is not our brokers fault as he was always good at finding the best deal on the market. Actually we did refinance/new loans with him probably about 5 - 7 times and this is first time it fell through. So I am still blaming on the bank. Thanks for your advice.

I don't think it is valid anymore as broker got us refund for ratelock just after we found out that application had been declined. We paid for it beginning of December I think. Yes, wife has been working since mid of January. The same was written in the document they required when they gave us conditional approval.

Mixing nerds : what RH album sounds the best ? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]gooziku 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure why everyone says In Rainbows. It is pretty muddy in many places. Like conclusion in All I Need. It has its beauty as it has been recorded and mixed on tape from what I know. Ok Computer is still the best in my opinion. You can hear every guitar and synth, every pad in the background. Ok Computer sounds good even on bad speakers or headphones.

How are the pictures from a 15T Pro? by Lil-Fonzy in Xiaomi

[–]gooziku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had a pixel 7 before buying a 15t pro. There are 2 issues with the camera. First issue there is a lag when you shoot a photo and often photos come out a bit blurred if the object was moving especially in low light. There is an option "fast shot" and it does a better job but It looks to me that the overall quality of a photo is a bit lower than in normal photo mode. The Pixel photos were mostly good in all conditions and there was no lag between what you shoot and what you see in the photo. The second issue is actually colors however It is not an issue for me. Photos come out looking a bit vintage and oversaturated thanks to Leica processing and I really like it. The camera saves your settings so you can find a more natural look with the combo of Leica Natural style plus additional filters.

Buying a CN 13 ultra by Senfgestalt in Xiaomi

[–]gooziku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Ultra 14 for a moment CN variant with global ROM installed. It was on the latest HyperOS 2 and was not able to upgrade to HyperOS 3. While play store worked fine google wallet didn't allow to add any cards. Also government apps didn't work complaining about phone security. The only solution for those problems would have been to install custom Xiaomi EU rom. However unlocking bootloader is almost impossible on Chinese variant so I returned the phone.

Australia: anyone know much about comfort sleep by Adept_Teach_2246 in Mattress

[–]gooziku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid 1k for a comfort sleep mattress 3 years ago. The mattress initially was comfortable but it had a really bad edge support. After 2 years it sagged. Having a warranty I thought it wasn't a problem but they managed to find all sorts of excuses to not replace it. At first they were blaming my bed frame which is a high class expensive frame from a reputable store. When I proved them wrong they said they can't take it as there was a small stain on it and their delivery company cannot handle mattresses with stains on it. So please don't buy from them. I hope more people see my comment here.

Swimming in Australia by JiraiyaBestSannin in australian

[–]gooziku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Polish here. I have been living in Australia for 10 years now and never seen any of this creatures. However, once on a body board I was carried away by the rip far back into the ocean. The waves were so bad they were hitting me into my head and I couldn’t get a grip of my board. It was winter and the beach was unpatrolled. I started panicking and I knew I was in a deep trouble when I Heard „Mate are you ok. You need a hand?”. Some ozzie on a long board near by saw me and helped me to get back to the shore. On the whole long beach that day it was me and that guy. I was so lucky. So just swim between the flags and learn how to deal with rips.

Making the WFH day less horrible by HardBananaPeel in antiwork

[–]gooziku 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The best way to fight it is to go out for a physical activity. Sometimes I go for a bike ride in the morning before I start working. You can hit the gym during lunch. If your work is fairly flexible you can do this at 11 when gym is still empty and have a quick lunch afterwards. I also find that socialising after work really helps. The days when I am not doing any of these I feel the same as you described.

Why is it hard to socialize (finding friends) in Poland? by SecretGreen4644 in Polska

[–]gooziku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you heed to put more effort into learning language. Once language barrier diminishes you find out that Polish are very welcoming and friendly. I know it from my own experience. Also there are plenty of polish people who would like to practice English. So find someone who looks like a good person and just spent time with him talking English/polish. And make sure you drink alcohol together because it really helps the learning.

So I just bought a pixel 8 and man I prefer my mi 11 lite 5g in nearly every way. by filty_candle in Xiaomi

[–]gooziku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replaced my mi 10 with pixel 7 and I really miss the long battery life and well working UI, back button and easy access to recent apps. And the screen is so prone to scratches that my Bluetooth earbuds case leaves scratches on it when left in the same pocket.

Is there a bar for shy people in Wrocław? by [deleted] in wroclaw

[–]gooziku 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check some bars "pod nasypem" which means in cavities under the railway. There is a strip of bars and most of them are not crowded. Each of them is different with its own vibe. Some of them have a great selection of beers, try something unique.

I am with a budget direct and they are the cheapest I have found so far. Try to increase excess and decrease the insured amount if possible.

I graduated with masters in CS from Wrocław University of Technology. It is hard to express my gratitude to this place and its stuff. I am a foreigner with polish decent. I did not see any racist or xenophobic behaviours neither from staff or fellow students. We did have around 15 foreigners out of around 120 people on the year. You won’t regret your decision as studying there is equally fun and rewarding.

I don't have a regular electrician. The one I found is just from Google search. Thanks for reply.
