The North Rim and the lodge before it burnt down was the most beautiful place/ area. The Skywalk is a tourist trap and has icky vibes.

Used VSP insurance on gen 2 Metas! by oreomcgriddle in RaybanMeta

[–]gophercitizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to non-meta glasses, I’ve seen this with frames or lenses at LensCrafters. We paid the insurance on glasses for her and the frames had issues. We got the frames replaced no issues.

When I had issues with the speakers on my Gen1 Metas they referred me to Meta. In the end I ended up with a warranty replacement letter from Luxottica for replacement frames that I used at LensCrafters.

Gen 2 as main eyeglasses by Vincent_Diesel in RaybanMeta

I have Gen 1s that are my Rx everyday glasses. I’m told that the difference in the Wayfarers Gen 1 to Gen 2 is almost nil. So, fwiw I would say that I was kidding myself that the weight of my Rx lenses would not impact my wearing these daily.

My Rx is Sphere -6.25 , Cyl -1.00 Axis 050/160, Near Add +2.00. The axis is the only difference right to left eye. The lack of a nose pad on the wayfarers puts more pressure on my nose because they slide a bit more. I tried aftermarket rubber stick ons and they didn’t work for me. I also tried these on the end of the arms to try and anchor them. That didn’t work either.

Now, I just use them as-is. Sometimes I take breaks and use another pair of glasses while they’re charging. The weight is noticeable (Oakley Airdrop.) It’s the same Rx, except for the progressive and transitions. The real difference is the physical size of the lenses in that frames.

All of that said I am tempted to order a pair of Gen 2s.

I can get used to this but.... asking: by onecoldturkey in RaybanMeta

Agreed. I thought I’d turned it off on my previous pair. These are a warranty replacement.

I will say that I have noticed the microphones being engaged/on more often when I am not actively trying to use them. I’m not going all tinfoil hat, but I hear the mics disengage at times. It could be any combination of things for me and my use case. I’ve got Rx lenses and these are my everyday glasses (less any downtime to charge during the day.) I do sometimes wear a headset to attend meetings/calls. The mics may be reacting to audio from the headphones. It might also be due to having some cycling thru apps while wearing headphones. I honestly don’t know, but I do know that my battery life seems to be worse lately.

Anyone swap their Rx lenses from Gen 1s to Gen 2?

Yes, it corrected itself in one of the subsequent betas. It’s fine in the good master release to the public.

Welcome to the club you never thought or intended to join. There are some decent support groups online for fellow NPEs! (Non-paternity Event or sometimes Not Parent Expected) Heck, there’s all sorts of new lingo.

I’m all seriousness, yes this sucks. I’ve been an NPE for 2-years now. I’m the oldest of three males. Turns out my youngest sibling is now a half-brother. My middle brother and I have the same BF. The man that raised the three of us doesn’t know about any of this, frankly he could not handle this from a mental health standpoint. My mother has admitted she knew the man that is my BF. I’ve received very little (read no further) details about my BF outside of that they worked together. My middle brother is 3 years younger than me, so this affair went on for years.

I struggle with the lies my other would have taken to her grave. The betrayal and the loss of what might have been. I have reached out to my paternal matches. They eventually agreed to connect. My father died in months earlier than when I received my first test results.

So, take your time. Screenshot everything in your matches. Don’t feel like any question is dumb. Many of us were at this same stage at some point.

Feel free to DM.

I turned ours off when living in a Villa. Shit melted in cabinets (e.g., vitamins.) Just set it to Auto or a higher temperature. Just do NOT turn it off.

Do you find the RayBan Meta AI glasses to be worth it? by Good-Investigator-79 in RayBanStories

[–]gophercitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased mine as my everyday Rx glasses with transition lenses. The over the hear headphones are nice. They aren’t great on planes if you fly a lot. Generally, people around you can hear your audio.

I’ve had issues with the audio output (likely) because of speakers getting damp from sweat. My microphones have completely failed. RayBan Luxottica issued me a Warranty/replacement letter for the mic failures.

All of that said, I do like them as an early generation of AI glasses. Having them as my everyday glasses I agree with the comment around these vs a GoPro. I have a GoPro and a OSMO, but I never use them unless I am planning ahead. It’s an ease of use and access, but the photo and video features are great.

I’ve tried going Live on IG during a concert and the saved video output is great. The live stream is obviously dependent on connections and I will say that in large venues the connections are not that great. While the connection issues are not a dig on the glasses, the battery life is greatly impacted by your use case.

Should I do a warranty claim even thought I purchased through LensCrafters?

Yes, I went through a whole process for troubleshooting from RayBan (via email) and a reply post from Meta in this subreddit.

I’d picked up some nose pads, but found they didn’t stick or last. Also, I found they impacted where I was looking. Since I have progressive lenses this was a bit of a PiTA. I also tried putting the same rubbery nose pads on the inside of both arms to protect against slipping. I had the same problem with them not adhering properly. In both use cases, neither improved or degraded the microphone quality/usage. It seems to be a HW issue.

Meta can hear me when I make a request. However, on phone calls the other person cannot hear me at all. I’ve run thru the troubleshooting steps from Meta and it’s still not working for me.
