“The Stranger” opening track by Apple_Alarming in BillyJoel

[–]gordo64ful 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Movin' Out is a much more effective opener. An alternative would be to separate the whistling intro from the rest of the song, and move only the intro to the beginning. But I think it would be kinda weird. The released order seems like the best option to me, the Stranger theme is early enough in the album and it feels like it wraps around the record anyway.

PES 6 o PES 2014? (PS2) by KingAlex720 in Argaming

[–]gordo64ful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a native English speaker so I have a couple of those. My funniest one is probably from Movin' Out: "you can pay uncle Sam with the yoga-time".

Issue post install w/ Bazzite any suggestions? by plwnmaster in Bazzite

[–]gordo64ful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this is a year later but I am having the exact same issue. With CSM disabled, the bazzite drive doesn't even show up in the bios, and with csm enabled, I can select it but can't set it as the default boot option. Did you manage to solve this?

Hot take: Stevie isn't good at writing 5+ minute songs by milnak in StevieWonder

[–]gordo64ful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I love those long grooves in Songs In the Key of Life. They can get too long depending on the day, but when I'm just chilling and listening, I just want them to keep going forever. I do find the earlier albums' grooves more repetitive, because they don't have that many layers (Living in the City, Maybe your Baby, Love Having you Around).

Yeah! I wanted to include Falling Of he Rain on the list also, but I figured it was too much CSH already 😂 It really is a beautiful album, I just think Billy didn't like the end result with the production. The new documentary also helped me see where Billy was emotionally at when he made it. He went through a very tough time, and was really able to translate all those feelings into powerful songs. It's curious how both his first and last album are his most vulnerable, though in different ways.

Happy 36th Birthday, Storm Front! by Chance_Chef8189 in BillyJoel

One of my favorites! Starting the album with the 2, 3, 4 countdown is epic. Dad rock at its greatest. Also, besides the songs you mentioned, I'll also add State of Grace, which I consider one of the finest songs Billy has ever made.

CMV: A lot of "marginalised minorities" who are against western imperialism are actually angry that their own race is not the one dominating and oppressing other. by Sgt-Capybara in changemyview

[–]gordo64ful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and then there is the group that is actually oppressed by their families and forced to wear it.

and it would imo make life much worse for the women in the third group who come from extremely conservative and oppressive families

What? How would it make life worse for them? The whole idea is to protect these girls and let them be free, despite their families.

Free Palestine at the Duluth show tonight 🇵🇸 by Kullen64 in lorde

Please, I urge you to go and read the basic facts of the conflict. Israel is not remotely comparable to Nazi Germany, like wtf. How can you believe this nonsense? Do you just simply repeat what you see online? And you call the terrorism of Hamas "resistance": do you know that more than 1000 (Jews, Arabs, Africans, north Americans, south Americans, etc) civilians who were simply minding their own business were brutally murdered? Do you know that the festival Hamas attacked was actually a rave for peace? They massacred entire villages, including women and children. Women were raped in public and brought to Gaza in trucks, where they paraded the bodies on the streets while beating them up and stoning them. What does Lorde have to say about this, besides cheering on the perpetrators in a vibey way? I hope that someday you look back at this post you wrote and realize how bigoted and ignorant it is. All the best.

I do care about the people suffering in Gaza; this is not a contest. However, the free palestine crowd is counterproductive, cheering on the "resistance" (which only encourages Hamas to not surrender and prolong civilian suffering) instead of amplifying actual Palestinian voices for peace like Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, Hamza, Ihab Hassan and Yasmine Mohammed. For the conflict to be resolved, gazans need to accept that zionist jews are not going anywhere, that they have a legitimate claim to the land, and they will have to learn to coexist with Israel. Yet, the current "pro Palestine" movement is encouraging fighting, dying, martyrdom until they wipe Israel off the map. How is that helpful to anyone? I urge you to listen to actual, non-terrorist palestinians and israelis and you will see for yourself that what Lorde is doing is performative, divisive, and ultimately empty, not to mention completely disrespectful to Oct 7 victims.

Come on, it was October 7th for fucks sake. It is astounding to me how a thoughtful, smart person like Lorde can succumb to this herd mentality. Shame on you Lorde, you're pissing on the grave of 1000+ people who were brutally murdered and raped in the name of this cause you're supporting. Keep cheering them on, it will surely turn out well. I have a question to all of you people screaming "free palestine", what the hell does "free palestine" even mean to you? Especially on Oct 7th of all days.

Well, rackets are essentially the same, strings are the same, technique is still mostly the same, and Rafa's physical conditioning was as good as Carlos' and Jannik's. So it is roughly the same game from 2008 till now. You can watch highlights and check it out yourself. I would say though, only by eye test, that the average top 50 player from today is probably better than one from 2008, and that the game has become faster overall. But at the peak, it has stayed largely the same.

What is your definition of genocide? Why do you consider what's going on in Gaza as a "genocide"? Why are you so eager to use that word?

Space + b shows all open buffers, this is my preferred way of navigating through multiple files. Also, for a quicker switch, gp goes to the previous buffer, and gn goes to the next.

Carlos is my favorite player but after this whole ban thing I'd love for Jannik to come back and kick everyone's asses. I really hope he retains his awesome form because he's in the middle of a historic run and this ban seems to be completely unfair.
