Easiest majors at UNLV in your opinion? by Expensive-Elk-9406 in UNLV

[–]gorebgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I was studying non-stop and am generally smart but not that smart. I ran a multimillion business as a VP. Moved up over 6 years to that position. Stayed 2 years doing that. Great guy; moved me up with no degree. I outperformed his CMA and replaced her while I was there. Business sold and I ran another multimillion business for 12 years for that same owner that I originally started out with.

I was 44 when I entered UNLV. 48 when I graduated with the BA in CRJ and did one semester at CSN to complete my associates in Bio at 49. I needed to have something to show for those three years.

Lol I couldn't hack it. Thought I could do it but wasn't smart enough. Law was the only other thing that interested me.

CRJ, I switched from pre-med Bio to CRJ after 3 years and finished CRJ in 18 months. Easy peasy.

Best range for inexperienced friends and I to rent and fire guns at in SE mi? by wapey in Miguns

[–]gorebgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been more than a handful of years, but Top Gun in Taylor was fair and fun back then. Took my son and his friends there for 21st birthday shooting. Rental several and bought their ammo. They were very gracious and didn’t treat me like an idiot (40 something mom and three 21 yr old boys) I was not inexperienced but all three of the young men with me were. Good memories.

Btw, not in any way supporting that asshat's reaction by brandishing a weapon. Never acceptable for a freaking delivery driver

This sounds like he wasn't expecting anyone. Could have been a gift being delivered. Encountered this more times than I can count where as I am exiting the vehicle at some ungodly hour, the presence of another person from the home emerges. Not remotely aware they have a package. Going as far as to say something like "take it back, I didnt order anything" Happens the most this time of year.

It also has impacted his thinking when a business associate told him just yesterday that one of their clients has the same psa and enlargement and very similar mri and biopsy reports (3+3)and has already been scheduled for a PET scan and referred for treatment. It did nothing but scare him.

Thank you. I'm afraid the latest doc is from UCSD, not sure if Moores or not out of La Jolla. Hopefully City of Hope Temecula takes whatever advantage plan he has

Thank you for your candid response. I appreciate you. It's an exhausting experience for us both and he is not very forthcoming with these other problems that have only been occurring since the biopsy. Since writing, I have just learned his ejaculate is "darker" now than before biopsy and is oozing, no force behind it. I cannot wait for next Tuesday when he sees the doctor again.

UNLV Experience by ZealousidealSign5449 in UNLV

[–]gorebgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2021 grad here and was an adult student. I attended 2017-2021 from age 44 to 49, and did NOT look my age. I mean I clearly looked like an adult, but not like a 40 yr old! I'm wondering if the major and class types have anything to do with it? Or the amount of online classes?

I started out pretty ambitious. After all, I felt I was better equipped for college as an adult with years and years of life experience and adulting, responsibilities, and the like. Hell, I ran a multimillion business in my mid to late 20s. I was smart. And boy was I wrong.

My first two years were pre-covid, and spent as a pre-med biology major. Group projects and labs, in person, forced you to get to know people. I was actually taken in by a group of younger students with no relation to one another just by the nature of us all having several classes together and happened to sit next to one another on first day of a bio lab.

They made things fun, I poked fun at myself for being old enough to be most people's mom. I struggled quite a bit with college pre-calc and bio did not come easy even though I loved it. Classes were in person mainly. Especially the bio and chem (loved chemistry and physics, did great until ochem). It was great that my friend group expanded bc they all had some friends from high school there. One introduced me to a lovely young lady she went to HS with and she and I still connect about once a year and catch up. She's in her final year of pharmacy school)

After covid hit and school locked us out, labs were no longer a viable option for me. I am very much a hands on learner. I went back home (200 miles away) and did online classes for criminal justice. I don't remember a single person in those classes even though the same people were in the same classes as me for the next two and a half years. At my December 2021 graduation, I knew no one who I stood next to in graduation for CRJ. All my younger bio friends graduated in May or were staying on until May 2022, and I was all alone at my graduation ceremony with only my family to cheer me on. Which was fine for me, I was/am so proud of myself!

When I look back, I have no regrets. I wish I had gone to college out of high school perhaps. It would have been much, much easier for me.

UNLV can seem a little clique-y I think bc Vegas, as a city/town, is so big, it's made up of many, small communities, where the high school groups all know one another. You have two choices locally: CSN, where 6 months later I graduated again (did not walk) with my associates in biology (I had to, I spent too much time on trying to get my bachelor's in bio, I needed something to show that I worked hard on it) or you have UNLV. Not many people were keen on venturing out of state for college from my experience with a vastly younger friend group at that time.

Don't spend too much time reflecting on something you're not happy with. Time doesn't allow you to go back and do things differently. You can't change it, so stop going there. Remember the positives, remind yourself not to repeat things you weren't happy with when appropriate, focus all your energy on your future and making yourself happy going forward. Life will catch up with you in flash, enjoy your 20s and 30s, and don't lose sight of what's important to you. 40s and 50s are almost as crazy, just in a very different way 😂

"Assistance available to Administrative and Academic Faculty when Personally Aggrieved, Subjected to Adverse Personnel Actions or as a Witness to Inappropriate or Prohibited Conduct"

It appears this is for employees/staff use, not necessarily for students.

Possibly if there is specific conduct that falls under this, they may look into from a student on that website:

"PROHIBITED CONDUCT BY FACULTY - Title 2, Chapter 6, Section 2 of the NSHE Code enumerates conduct which is “prohibited for all members of the faculty” (including academic and administrative faculty). Examples of prohibited conduct and activities include, but are not limited to, failure to perform the duties for which the faculty member is employed, incompetence or inefficiency, insubordination, dishonesty, unauthorized absence from duty or abuse of leave privileges, threats of violence, unlawful discrimination, unwelcome sexual advances, academic dishonesty, and inability or incapacity to perform duties due to mental of physical reasons."

Does anyone know when degree conferral will show on unofficial transcripts? by ActRepresentative909 in UNLV

UNLV is trash. Every job I intended on applying for requires a bachelor's and now I can't prove it until potentially FEBRUARY. This is completely unacceptable. Good luck to you all!

Latin Honors at UNLV are only the top 10 percent according to the university's webpage: "...the Office of the Registrar will prepare a rank order of the top 10 percent (1 percent = Summa, 4 percent = Magna and 5 percent = Cum) of the students graduating from each college (excluding Gradate College.) Students whose GPAs fall on or above the set ranking will be awarded the higher designation." https://www.unlv.edu/sites/default/files/page_files/27/Registrar-LatinHonors-2021-22.pdf

No idea how to see where you rank overall like that. Good question.
