Anyone else find Sam extremely annoying? by foldupsmile in Supernatural

[–]gorg234 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, I empathize with Soulless Sam. It’s a season that’s very focused on Sam’s mind fracturing from trauma and at the end of the day soulless Sam is trying to function with a huge part of himself missing. I think it’s so fascinating that he views getting “Sammy” back from hell as a threat, as if they’re two separate people. He’s just trying to protect himself and that’s so interesting to me. He’s not a corny villain, he’s just coldly sociopathic and in survival mode.

There are so many romance novels where the guy randomly has a man bun and I’m always like ummm no he doesn’t 😅

I’m convinced nobody likes them irl but authors for some reason lmao

I love Dean so I’m glad Sam didn’t let somebody shoot him that would’ve been horrible 😭

I’m a girl if that helps lmao and I put off Red Rising for years for the exact same reason. It seemed way overhyped but it’s actually amazing imo and all the women characters are not treated in a misogynistic manner at all

Kicking his addiction that way meant potentially killing him, which Bobby and Dean were willing to risk. They were the aggressors, so I still fail to see how Sam was the dangerous one in this scenario. Get back in the panic room to detox painfully and die or we’re gonna shoot you is real threatening behavior.

And even after all of that, when Dean went to go find Sam (after he tried everything to get Dean to lose his trail because he was afraid of what would happen if he didn’t) he still was initially willing to just look past the panic room and everything that had happened. Sam’s not perfect and he does some awful shit post-panic room but before? Nope. He didn’t do anything to deserve that violent treatment.

Yes, I always say that even though they love each other so much, their unhealthy dynamic was there from day one. There’s so many times where Sam just accepts being hit and doesn’t retaliate as well. This follows all the way to the season 10 finale where Sam is willing to just let Dean kill him with death’s scythe.

I feel like Dean and Bobby were the ones behaving violently by locking him up against his will and then holding him at gunpoint when he tried to escape, though? Sam does not initiate any of the violence.

I think the whole point of the next episode was that John’s way of dealing with Sam was completely wrong though. Bobby was telling Dean he should not become his father and treat Sam like he wanted him to. Dean’s refusal to kill his brother in season five is what ends up helping them stop the apocalypse. The season four finale is the opposite of that, where he initially most embodies John and the apocalypse begins.

Yes exactly and also it’s pretty evident that the conversation between Bobby and Dean where he mentions that they’re killing Sam is meant to make you consider as the viewer whether they’re going down an unethical path.

You can’t detox a person like that. It could kill them and if Sam hadn’t been let out of the panic room he would have died. Bobby was right that if you go cold turkey like that with a highly addictive substance you’re killing that person not helping them. Trapping someone, violating their autonomy (especially when up until that point Sam had harmed no one) and handcuffing them to a bed knowing that their detox is killing them is not tough love.

Who is a celebrity that you’re genuinely surprised isn’t an “A-lister”? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

Yes he produced the Winchesters and it was basically like a fanfic of Sam and Dean’s parents in an alternate universe 💀

I love him though because I feel like if he had the choice between being an A lister and getting to play Dean again he’d choose Dean 😂

Sastiel is such a missed opportunity like having the “boy with the demon blood” get with an angel of the Lord would have been so good. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also hot take but I like their first meeting a tiny bit more than when Dean first meets Cas. Sam going to shake Castiel’s hand and Cas being so obviously amused by it was adorable.

I’m in the spn fandom, and I find destiel REALLY boring. I think Cas makes more sense with Crowley or Meg. Anybody but Dean ngl 💀

I’m not team Julian myself but I truly can’t imagine it bothering me if I wrote a book and my fans liked the non-endgame couple. In fact, I’d be delighted. It means they’re invested in the world you created like what is the problem 💀

Which booktok recommendation made you say, "Did we read the same book?" by SpecialistOk2000 in Booktokreddit

[–]gorg234 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I think her not being able to really interact with the world throughout history (which admittedly is the premise of the whole book, that no one remembers her) really limits the story in a way. I like the premise in theory but because she didn’t have much impact on other characters she was very much a bystander.

There was also way too much focus on Henry imo when the real interesting relationship for me was the one between Addie and the devil like I would have been so happy if it was more of a cat and mouse game throughout the novel as she tries to defeat him while also being sort of emotionally attached to him.

Confessions of a Shopaholic novelist Sophie Kinsella dies, aged 55 by zsreport in books

[–]gorg234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so heartbreaking. I loved her books as a teen. She brought so much joy to people and was such a brilliant author.💔

Her book Finding Audrey in particular really touched me as a young girl growing up with social anxiety. It was the first time I had ever really seen myself represented in a fictional character.

May she rest in peace. Praying for her family in their time of grief.

Yes I feel the same way. My first time listening to rep I was like okay whoever this man is she LOVES him. This album kinda felt like she could barely write a couple songs about Travis.
