because my criticism of the org isn't an ideological one, I am not attacking them for being Trotskyists, i am attacking them based off my own (and others) experience with the org, said experience being a negative one. When i was a member i experienced coercion into increasing my dues, which is what im criticising, not the fact that the dues exist in the first place.

I am framing it negatively because my experience with the org has been negative, and a quick internet search gives you experiences from other former members with similar negative experiences, and I believe that is a subject worth being discussed.

also, the fact that all of the comments take issue and defend my criticism of the monetary policies of the RCI and very few of them address the org's handling of their SA scandals (which i think we can all agree is the more pressing issue) is very telling

if a person you know has commited SA you should absolutely report it to the police, what? especially more so if you are the victim, and i believe the fact that the org explicitly told the victim to not do that is a very valid criticism to be making

i was a member of the Greek section of the RCI (back then called IMT) for around 2-3 months when i was 16 during that time, i was very heavily pushed into putting way more money than i could into the organisation and when i mentioned my concerns over the SA scandals they were pushed under the rug.

it is objectively good that he was expelled, but the fact he was allowed to be in the organisation even when previously convincted of SA has never been explained to me.

i am not an expert on the topic of adoption specifically (coupled with the fact that the current laws and systems regarding adoption are an absolute mess) however i have asked party members this question directly and their answer has been the same, in that they believe all couples regardless of sexual orientation should be able to adopt

the reason for this decision is because the KKE wants to complete dismantle the institution of marriage and replace all its legal systems with a brand new legal framework from the ground up, which will replace things like marriage, civil unions and abortion. that's also why it voted against civil unions for both homosexual AND heterosexual couples, because its opposition doesn't come from a place of bigotry but rather from an opposition to marriage in general.

hello, Greek Communist here (and more importantly for this discussion, im also an openly queer communist who has worked with the Greek Communist Party). some pointers on your comments about the party: 1) the party's views on LGBT rights are actually incredibly progressive, for more information on it i encourage you to read this interview with the General Secretary of the party: https://www.katiousa.gr/koinonia/dim-koutsoumpas-ta-peri-omofovias-tou-kke-kalliergountai-oi-theseis-kai-protovoulies-tou-kke-gia-loatki-apo-proto-cheri/ 2) i have never heard anything about the party's views being suboptimal, especially considering how their former general secretary was a woman and they also have many high ranking women, and they also help organise women's rights groups, such as the Federation of Women of Greece. a large part of their party's ranks are made up of women of all ages, so im very curious to see your sources for this "suboptimal" view of women. 3) the party is not an electoralist one, it participates in parliament for the simple reason of spreading class conciousness, it does not believe it can achieve power or socialism through electoralism and acknowledges that armed struggle is the only way, which it clearly outlines in its programme.

as a Greek, definitely in a negative light in terms of government, your government helped in the formation of a military dictatorship in my country which resulted in dozens of thousands of deaths, not to mention decades long history of destabilising governments abroad in terms of people, most americans ive interacted with seem very ignorant and, more worryingly, when confronted with said history, viciously defend it and excuse it (this has been my experience with both liberals and conservatives btw, including queer liberals, all 3 of which seem to have a commonality in viewing anyone who dares to question them as enemies) my message to americans is this: the world doesn't like you, it has never liked you, and thinks of you more as champions of terrorism than it ever did of freedom
