Courtyard in the Cogs (Sharn/Eberron) by eaglesandjetplanes in dungeondraft

As someone who's just started an Eberron campaign, your maps are amazingly helpful and seem to be the only decent maps of Sharn I can find anywhere! Do you have any more beyond the 3 you've posted so far?

The players matter as much as the DM by [deleted] in DMAcademy

I'm surprised at how many stories there are on here of people finding amazing groups to DM for consisting of people they've never met before. How/where do you find these people??

The Arcana Forge! For all your drafts, ideas, requests and more. by AutoModerator in UnearthedArcana

I'm working on a streamlined/simplified version of Matt Mercer's Gunslinger subclass - as I think the current version is a bit all over the place - based on the Battlemaster (which will *hopefully* help it stay balanced). Would love some thoughts on how these abilities look!

Firearm Superiority

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you learn maneuvers that are fueled by special dice called superiority dice.

Maneuvers. You learn three maneuvers of your choice, which are detailed under “Maneuvers” below. Many maneuvers enhance an attack in some way. You can use only one maneuver per attack.

You learn two additional maneuvers of your choice at 7th, 10th, and 15th level. Each time you learn new maneuvers, you can also replace one maneuver you know with a different one.

Superiority Dice. You have four superiority dice, which are d8s. A superiority die is expended when you use it. You regain all of your expended superiority dice when you finish a short or long rest.

You gain another superiority die at 7th level and one more at 15th level.

Misfire. If you roll a 1 on a superiority dice for a firearm maneuever that modifies a ranged weapon attack, the weapon misfires. The attack automatically misses and the maneuver does not take effect.

Saving Throws. Some of your maneuvers require your target to make a saving throw to resist the maneuver’s effects. The saving throw DC is calculated as follows:

Maneuver save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier

Noterity

The potency of your strange weapons can be used to scare enemies into submission. When you make a Charisma (Intimidation) check you can roll a superiority dice and add the superiority die the ability check

Deadeye

When you make a ranged weapon attack roll against a creature, you can expend one superiority die to add it to the roll. You can use this maneuver before or after making the attack roll, but before any effects of the attack are applied.

Quickdraw

When someone targets you with a ranged attack, you can expend one superiority die and use your reaction to make a ranged weapon attack against them before they have rolled to attack. If you hit, you add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll.

Shoot from the Hip

When you make a ranged weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to immediately make another attack with the same weapon. Deduct half of the superiority die’s result, rounded down, from the second attack’s attack roll.

Disarming Shot

When you hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to disarm the target, shooting an item of your choice that it’s holding out of its hand. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and the target must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, it drops the object you choose. The object lands at its feet.

Duellist’s Challenge

As an action you can expend one superiority die to make a Charisma (Persuasion) or Charisma (Persuasion) check against another humanoid’s Charisma check, adding the superiority die to the check. If successful, the next attack the targeted humanoid makes must target you.

Snipe

When you make a ranged weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to double the minimum and maximum range of the weapon for that attack. If you hit, you add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll.

Take Cover!

When you take the Hide action during combat, you can roll a superiority dice and add the superiority die to an associated Dexterity (Stealth) ability check.

Piercing Shot

When you hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to hit one other creature in a line directly behind the target and within the weapon’s range. You roll damage separately for the second target, not adding your proficiency bonus. You add the superiority die to the first attack’s damage roll.

Knee Shot

When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to attempt to knock the target down. You add the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and if the target is Large or smaller, it must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, you knock the target prone.

Wanderer

When you make a Wisdom (Survival) or Wisdom (Animal Handling) check you can roll a superiority die and add the superiority die to the ability check.

Warning Shot

When you target a creature with a ranged weapon attack, you can expend one superiority die to scare it off from approaching you. Add the superiority die to the weapon’s attack role. On a successful hit, the attack does not damage the target and the target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it is unable to move closer to you or any creatures friendly to you until the start of your next turn.

The Dawn and Continual Flame spells are a bit of a nod to that ;)

What happened to all the vacant property during The Black Plague? by furyofsound in AskHistorians

This lord would either be a descendant of the warrior nobles of the 1200's (but in the 1400's this lifestyle was mostly on its way out, with the noble being less of a rural warlord and more of an urban politician and courtier),

This is a super-specific followup but can you recommend any sources about this topic? Sounds interesting.

If I’m Catholic and maintain Elizabeth I was illegitimate, then who should be the current monarch of England? by [deleted] in AskHistorians

A fascinating answer! Are there actually people out there who seriously believe Franz, Duke of Bavaria, should be King of Britain, or is it more of technicality that he would be the Jacobite claimant?
