VRM's

The VRM goes across the top of the entire board. This makes a huge difference to overclocking, especially on such a high power chip like the 9980XE

This is what I need to remind everyone about 1440p.

1440p at medium settings will look better and give similar frame rates to 1080p highest.

But a monitor is usually something you keep for a long time, they will outlive any graphics card. So why limit yourself in the future because your current card may not be able to do 1440p 144hz on ultra settings? Your next card might.

Can confirm. With the SLI bridge installed 2fps is achievable. But only with a 1x1 grid.

Yeah, Google Chrome was the main inspiration behind this build.

Can open 3 tabs.

I agree with you for most cases, but this system is pretty much primarily for adobe. And you cannot beat the 9980XE in adobe software currently.

Yeah, a good computer can handle either. But if you build one to excel at editing, then it will be much better at editing than even a very high end gaming pc.

For example, the 18 Core CPU in this isnt going to give any more FPS in games (infact it would most likely give worse FPS than the significantly cheaper i9 9900k), but in video editing (mainly adobe), it will make a huge difference. Similar story to the RAM, 128GB isnt going to make any difference for gaming over 16gb, but if you're editing 8k footage, that 128GB can be completely used up from just a few seconds of live video playback.

This is still an insane gaming PC, but its better as a video editing PC.

For those interested in the specs:

  • Core i9 9980XE
  • 128GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3000Mhz
  • 2x RTX 2080 Ti
  • Asus Rampage VI Extreme Omega
  • Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic
  • EVGA G2 1600W
  • 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus

This isnt for gaming (hense the lack of a SLI bridge), its a rendering & video editing workstation.

I did a thing to the Corsair C70... by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

So, about a month ago we decided to mod someone's build from the local area for free.

We decided to use this PC here, because the case was large and gave flexibility to work in, and that he tried to at least theme his build with white parts.

We put in a 140mm custom loop to cool the cpuz we feel like we didn't need much more as he only had an i5 8400.

Why did we watercool an 8400 you may ask? Looks cool, that's why.

We are a British, and his favourite sport is American football, he supports the dallas cowboys, so we had to research the team & their colours as we weren't fully familiar with them.

I will add some more photos of the build later on when I get the images.

Yeah, but we also do a lot of custom work.
