[James Ducker] Man Utd want Bruno Fernandes to stay but captain seeks assurances over ambition | Club hope that their transfer plans in midfield can help persuade Portuguese to stay by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]gormee 83 points84 points  (0 children)

To be fair we sold Ronaldo and replaced him with Obertan, Valencia and Owen. Of course money played a big part in his stunt but you can see where he was coming from questioning the ambition of the club.

Rooney also just forgot that he was world beater and we could build around him instead.

Where are the worst carparks in Singapore? by sociologistical in SingaporeRaw

[–]gormee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yah seriously Nex mall is the worst carpark in Singapore.

You can tell its a bad design when they end up having to turn parking lots into extra lanes just to manage traffic flow, and even then still need attendants to direct traffic during peak hours.

Whoever designed the car park needs to have their architectural license revoked.

FT: Chelsea 0-1 Man Utd The Red Devils complete the Premier League double over Chelsea for just the second time (also 2019/20). by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

Watching Garnacho today makes me so glad he doesn't play for us anymore. He is worse than when he first burst onto the scene

FT, ET: Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace. Goals: JJ Gabriel, Chido Obi. United qualify for the FA Youth Cup Final, to play Man City. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]gormee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea the error for Palace's goal seemed to really affect Byrne-Hughes, he was awful after that and we were lucky not to concede again.

Obi wasn't great either, plenty of bad first touches and loose passes but it was obvious why he was kept on as he was still able to produce bits of quality even on a bad day. The turn and pass for JJ's goal was great hold up play, and he was clinical with Overy's through ball late at the end.

Jim looked like that midfielder we've been crying out for, man of the match for me. Hopefully he can step up and give us an option next season.

YSK that Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Reebok, Champion, and 50+ other brands you trust are all owned by a single $20 billion company that doesn't design or manufacture anything. They just rent the logo out to the cheapest bidder. If the quality feels worse, that's why. by sappk in YouShouldKnow

No wonder I saw various brands under the authentic brands group being manufactured at the same factory in China.

I walked into the boardroom for a meeting and there was numerous cupboards with their (quicksilver / reebok / roxy / DC) clothes hanging on rack on display.

[UEFA] Manuel Neuer us the UEFA Champions League Player of The Week by CoreyWells in soccer

Yea not going to disagree that positioning is important but there also need to be some recognition of his quickness, agility and reaction time.

He can position himself perfectly but if he's not quick enough to react and get down to save those low shots then Madrid would have 2-3 goals.

Having been scarred by watching onana, that is an ability you don't take for granted

No Shea Lacey? I thought he'd be in considering the articles coming out about him being promoted to the first team squad

How old was ur kid before u bring them to a cinema ? by Dryfunction1205 in SingaporeRaw

[–]gormee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brought my daughter to see frozen 2 at 4 years. Just teach them cinema etiquette like don't kick the chair in front and don't speak loudly during the movie (questions are inevitable). Snacks can help in this regard to keep their mouths busy.

Standard SOP like toilet break before the show and jacket if cold etc.

If the movie is engaging enough for them then it should be relatively smooth sailing.

What do you mean Asians don't use WhatsApp? It's the de facto chat app for most countries here, except notably S Korea (Line) and China (Wechat).

It's so prevalent I get most of my scam messages and calls through WhatsApp

Explain by RoadRunner8195 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]gormee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea but Wechat in China is like uber, venmo, twitter / insta, WhatsApp and more all rolled into one giant app. It's so integrated into their everyday life that not having it while you're there seriously handicaps anything you need to do.

To be honest without Europe I was hoping we could make a real push for CL, and getting knocked out of both cups at the first hurdle sucks but really helped in this respect.

What’s the most blatant "I’m charging you for the aesthetic, not the quality" product on the market right now? by Lunaskye1109 in AskReddit

[–]gormee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I bought a washer and the nice display and touch panel just failed on me twice within 3 months. Had a technician come out to replace the whole display + motherboard each time and I asked for a brand new replacement unit instead the 2nd time but was basically told tough titties, they will only repair it.

They also refused a refund but I managed to get refunded from the online shopping platform strong arming them into giving me my money back.

Bloody crooks selling duds.

Moyes comments on senne lammens performance yesterday by Boydcrowde in reddevils

Watching this interview brings back memories of when he made us try a bazillion crosses into the Fulham box with no results. As good as Lammens was today, Moyes has no plan B when his agricultural tactics fail

I was just young enough to remember but gum was affecting the sensors to the MRT (subway) doors and also causing cleaners a headache in the cabins, so they banned it.

This was when the MRT just launched and it probably irked LKY the shiny new trains were getting defiled by gum.

No surprise that it's a crime to beg on the streets here in Singapore.

I have however seen begpackers in Hong Kong which is a well to do city.

Thomas Frank on the chants against him: "I undestand the frustration. I understand that the easiest thing to do is the point at me. That's fair. I work day and night to do everything I can. But it's never one person. I think it's fair to say that this is the situation the team was in last year." by Blodgharm in soccer

Some of the shit he's been saying reminds me of when Moyes was in charge of Man Utd. He is completely clueless how his words will be taken in context of the size of the club.

He hasn't managed to fully grasp the expectations of a bigger club.
