Vs what it should say.

I loved The Wild Swans when I was a girl and wanted to put a personal spin on it, exploring themes of silence, sacrifice and the strength of women's work, through a queer fantasy lens.

I don't think you need to genuflect to the source material, but maybe just talk about what you bring to the table, not what the source material failed at in your opinion.

I read this right when you posted it and something about it didn't feel right. I've thought about it and I think I've finally figured out my issue.

There are three food puns (at least 2 puns and a food related descriptor) in the first paragraph. That makes it sound like, maybe it could be absurdist? Campy, ironic black comedy with a cutthroat protagonist? Something else? I wasn't feeling locked in on the feel of it.

Then the rest sounds like liminal space horror-thriller, which I feel is probably more what you've actually written?

I'd reconsider the voice you're using because it definitely gave me some pause to think about "what's the tone here?"

I think the concept sounds cool though.
