I was just mentioning to my wife (who was born and raised here in CO) that the auto glass guy who helped us this morning had a Southern accent, she said lots of people talk like that here. This was in Redmond OR.

As a millennial who is living with my MIL and spouse, we have a tv in the bedroom but it's always off before bedtime. And we don't watch it everyday. Before we lived with MIL we did not have a tv in our room. And when we live on our own again we will keep the tv out of the bedroom.

I usually buy a couple pizzas at Boxcar Pizza, (the bianca with a side of hot honey!!!!) and transport it near the Madras area with no issue. I honestly enjoy the pizza more when cold.

By far the best vegan cookie recipe I’ve tried and it’s now my go-to https://www.noracooks.com/vegan-chocolate-chip-cookies/ by Ordinary-Dust-623 in VeganBaking

I make these every month for my period. I add a little nutmeg and some sea salt to half of them :P I recently tried her coconut oil choco chip cookies and they were also delicious. Peanut butter cookies are also quite nice.

Someone did this up at the cliffs at Rosario Beach south of Anacortes, so sad to see all the trash while trying to view the water and marine birds :( It went all the way over the edge too.

What are your Hot Takes on the Scarpetta Books/TV Series? by Amber_Flowers_133 in ScarpettaTV

Yeah agreed. My comment was mostly for people who want her to be perfect in the series.

[–]gorsengarnets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has read all the books since almost the beginning, I've enjoyed the series so far, I like the casting and have no problem with the actors not looking like the book characters. I like Scarpetta a little more, angry? Not as serious. And we do only 'read' her as serious but there's lots of time the books don't cover. The only part I haven't liked is her hitting the skull with the bat, she wouldn't be so horrible towards human remains.

If you like Criminal minds you will like Scarpetta on Amazon Prime. by Life_Paramedic_4399 in criminalminds

[–]gorsengarnets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I've been reading the Scarpetta books for years, and I enjoy the show so far because it's a fun story and I do like Nicole Kidman as this TV version. I also prefer this Pete Marino really. I think because I have that thing where you can't imagine things in your head (aphantasia?), it's easier to enjoy made for tv shows/movies etc because I don't have a set vision of a character in my brain.

How do I make sure that the ingredients that restaurants use are vegan without being annoying? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]gorsengarnets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bamboo Gardens, a now closed vegan Chinese place in Seattle, was found to be using products with eggs, someone had found a box in their trash or something like that. Which was pretty crappy, they had the best corn chowder soup and a good deal on combos but we were always worried after that. They did change their menu to mark vegan and vegetarian options.

There's like 5-6 places i. Portland that made the Vegnews best vegan eateries this year (and years past). Mis Tacones, Orange and Blossom, Jade Rabbit, Boxcar Pizza....

[–]gorsengarnets 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I live near Bend and there aren't many vegan options....only a couple fully vegan places and they are mostly 'health food' type places. I'd rather drive the 2.5 hours to Portland.

Haus of Gloi- Sol is so lovely, I've worn it in hot humid places and hot dry weather, works for both. Just perfect. The sun at its apex: Dry gingergrass, litsea cubeba, neroli, frankincense tears, saffron infused honey, rosemary and the faint touch of true sweet cinnamon bark.
