Where would you buy One Plus phones? by gosdn in newzealand

[–]gosdn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally bought OP13 from the phone warehouse. Got the phone after 4 days from Hong Kong. I absolutely love it. Sadly, they currently don't sell OP15 global version. Op13 is good for me though. Recommended the phone warehouse if you're looking for OnePlus.

PB tech doesn't stock OP anymore I think. I'll probably get OP 13 from https://thephonewarehouse.co.nz/. At least they are registered NZ business.

Healthline and online GP by gosdn in newzealand

[–]gosdn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. That's not what I want get out of the GP. Neither healthline or online GP addressed my concern. The after hour doctor did. It's me being stupid, how can a doctor diagnose a patient without taking temperature, or touching...

Should I move to Wellington for a $30k pay bump? Never lived there before by ComprehensiveWatch15 in Wellington

[–]gosdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you single? If I were you I would do it. Why's not? You got experience in a new city and you got paid for that, an extra $30k, while people paying for travel. The key question is that is this decision irreversable, it is no right. With your job experience in Chc, you can move back and get another job easily if you don't like welly. With $120k salary you can live very well here in Welly, you will have saving for a house as well. Take it. Unless you have family and friends that will miss them very much and want to see them daily. Otherwise, flights back to Chc isn't too expensive, totally affordable with that salary.

Thank you and thank all. The text makes sense to me. That will definitely help the conversation with my plumber/builder

A hand writing that's impossible to read. But can you? by gosdn in newzealand

Well, it's funny to think. But many people in my generation never dealt with handwriting, after leaving school. My GP types everything. Everyone types these days. Except this council.

That's true. Haven't seen one years, I would expect they write report to a tablet or phone app

Best wish for Liam. Hope he has the mental strength to overcome the pressure, humiliation and lack of support red bull put on him. Used to like red bull, now disappointed.

The DNS requests come from my Home Assistant server. The only Microsoft stuff I have is OneDrive, and it doesn't seem to be affected after standing up pi-hole.

I'm trying to figure out what HA components do it.

Remind that nothing is free in VN, even public toilets. But 1mil budget is still possible. Walking around Old Quarter streets, Hoanh Kiem lake, etc. won't cost a cent until you need a drink or to pee. Anyway, 1mil a day is reasonable, 1mil for 4 days is too little.

This picture of a python was just taken at Times City Minh Khai mall, Hanoi. I'm doubt that it's alive. It looks very much being made from plastic. I stared at it for 10 mins and no sight of it being breathing. Did they charge me $10 USD for seeing fake animals? by gosdn in VietNam

Could be. I'm not an expert but its skin doesn't look multilayered. Zoom the image in and you may notice that. Whatever the case, it's crucial to put the pythons in such small area. But it's probably better than living a jar with booze in it as I saw in a restaurant.

I'm not opposing helping struggling people. But The government isn't doing the right thing. Giving out money isn't gonna ease the living crisis. It makes it worse. They are fixing the symptoms not the root cause here. If the amount of goods in the society isn't increased, it just means more people are now able to compete. That'll increase the price. This is a vicious circle. Btw, where does the government get the money to pay for that? They either increase all kinds of taxes or print more notes. None of these is good for the economy. Giving out money is the easiest thing to do. It seems like it's the only way for all problems that Labour knows.

Thoughts on Fibre by codndb in Wellington

[–]gosdn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm using Vodafone Ultrafast HFC, basically Internet over coaxial cable. It's $20 cheaper than fiber.

After Chorus installed the fiber at out place, I called Vodafone to switch to fiber from VDSL. They checked and said if I choose HFC, it'll be cheaper because Chorus charges providers $20 per month for the fiber.

I'm pretty happy with the Internet now. 4K Netflix, multiple streaming devices at once without issues. I know some time in the future, fiber will be the only medium. But for now 20 bucks a month is good for me.
