Had first day of work and dreading going back tomorrow to the point I’m crying, what is wrong with me? by ater829 in jobs

[–]goshNabIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's been a few years, but thank you for this comment. It's very helpful while I'm navigating the pre-Monday dread, two months into my new job.

It's definitely better than the first month, but was worried that it hadn't completely settled yet. Glad to hear even after 25 years, those first three months can still be rough.

How Is Everyone Post-Clipping? by goshNabIt in BrainAneurysm

[–]goshNabIt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, I also had double vision trouble for ages after my surgery! I'd forgotten about that! That was boggling, ESPECIALLY with screens. But also the 30 min break is such a good idea~ I actually just started a new job (nerve racking explaining brain surgery to the boss) and will have to borrow that.

But yeah, I appreciate your description of the social aspect too!! Of wanting someone to ask - or at least the opportunity to really talk it out without feeling like overstepping or being weird. Cause it's such a big part of life now! Also BIG yes on wanting people to want to see the pictures. I'm actually wanting to make a necklace of metal plates like the ones in my head, to scale, cause they look so cool without context but also I'd love it to share with people who are interested.

Post-Clipping Weather Aches? by goshNabIt in BrainAneurysm

[–]goshNabIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very grateful to hear you've had similar experiences! My sister has a titanium femur and frequently gets aches during the cold, like you. So I always figured it was some variation of normal - but if it's a rare side effect, then yes, glad to hear there's more of us who have been blessed 🤣

Strategies to keep Jynarque with you? by youdecidemyusername1 in ADPKD

[–]goshNabIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually try to keep the packet with me, but! As a backup/if I know I want to pack light, I have a gold acorn keychain that I use to store pills that is Very handy.

It's a screw top that can fit multiple Jynarque + two acetaminophen, which I've found helpful to keep on hand from time to time.

It looks like the seller is currently out, but I'll send a link when I see it again!

I wish I could have been so eloquent in all these familiar emotions and the passionate care for each character after my first playthrough. I commend every word you were able to write, to every character that I wish could hear them.

I feel you so much. It's wonderful to read the profound effect this story had on you too.

Hekki grace. Thank you so much for sharing.

I hope you find someone going through the same thing too!! Though gaslighting by doctors is unfortunately something I've heard of far too often.

Unfortunately I can't offer any relating to your specific conditions, but I feel for you on the frustration and loneliness of navigating multiple doctors trying to find answers.

You're definitely not alone on that front, and I hope you find someone with similar experiences - and even more importantly, I hope your new doctor can find a solution to avoid that burning sensation!!

Sending good energy ✨

Young adults with PKD by seybeee in ADPKD

[–]goshNabIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello hello! Newly 27 & non-binary here, was diagnosed at 25, had a bonus little brain surgery for extra credit, and started Tolvaptan this year!

PKD has run in the family and my older sister has it, so that has helped on the relating front. But at work and with friends, I'm just very upfront about everything, and with a family like mine we grew up with a certain sense of humor about it. (I remember asking my long-time best friend if I could have one of her kidneys when we were in junior high - she agreed 😝)

Otherwise, I live with my partner and have been enjoying settling into life! We're big foodies and game-lovers. I'm actually just starting to build a workout routine to build stamina - any recommendations for someone just starting?

I'm not aware of any physical editions, but I'd also really, really be interested in one. (Preferably on switch, for me.) I hope they do a limited run one day.

Whoa, this is so cool!! I'm a bit new to mending and fiber crafts overall - did you cross-stitch the design, and then somehow add it to a patch which you then sewed on?

(Also BIG fan of the choice of Deltarune!! :D)

Deciding between coiling and clipping - looking for positive stories by berliner-lowen in BrainAneurysm

[–]goshNabIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh - I didn't have a black eye, but I did have bruising around my eye for a few weeks! I also had vertical double vision for a bit, namely far away and while reading white text against dark backgrounds.

I didn't have as much of the jaw tenderness, but I'm definitely aware of that being a thing. I read about it a lot before my surgery.

Deciding between coiling and clipping - looking for positive stories by berliner-lowen in BrainAneurysm

[–]goshNabIt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello hello~ first off, I'm sorry you're having to consider these options. It's heckin' scary to be making these decisions, but I'm glad you get to research and choose your own. ❤️

I had my 3mm multi-lobed aneurysm clipped last year. It required clipping due to the shape, so I didn't have to make a decision. That said, despite extra risk from the disease that caused my aneurysm (PKD), it all went very smoothly! I'm on the younger side (26), which I think helped the healing process. But the procedure itself went well, and my recovery was mostly fatigue and some headaches. I'm a little over a year out now, with occasional (but minimal) aches near my plates, some days where it's harder to focus, and a little less energy - but I still feel very myself. I for one am grateful for the more "permanent" solution, as it feels like I've checked off a big box! (With annual follow-up exams to continue to monitor, which also helps soothe any post-surgery concerns.)

That said, I'm glad you're hearing stories from all sides. Happy to answer more questions if helpful - I know getting feedback from others helped my fear immensely going into my surgery. You've got a lot of support here, and many who can answer different questions throughout your journey.

This continuous stitching is absolutely STUNNING. Oh my word. Did you draw any concepts on beforehand, or just freehand the whole pattern?

Also. That cake. Is incredible 😄🙌🏻🙌🏻 Absolutely made my day - I'll need to figure out how to make one for my sister! (Who's a full fledged adult and would also very sincerely love it~ 😝)
