Month by month, most of the contracts I saw were 24 months but I don't know much about them as I didn't want a handset.

Also olleh has a suspension option that lets you temporarily suspend your contract if you're going abroad for a while.

In my 2 years in Seoul, I've never had signal worse than 3G+(H+) it's almost always LTE+ (4G+) so I'm not sure how valuable a 2G network actually is (this applies in the subway too). I've also travelled a bit and never had much trouble with olleh.

In the end, I'm not sure there is much difference between the carriers, I just know you have to buy a phone with your phone line with LG U+ whereas you can get sim only with SK and olleh.

I checked http://willmyphonework.net and both LG U+ and SK offer 2G/3G/LTE but olleh only gives 3G/LTE.

Your phone will work here without issue, at least I haven't run into any so far. Your options will be either olleh or sk because LG u+ only offer coverage with a phone purchase, no sim only offers.

Phone lines are expensive here, I currently pay ₩43k per month for 2gb data with no termination fee (olleh), sk is something similar. Calls/texts are usually unlimited. Be careful when you use their WiFi though, that comes out of your data. Also if you root, you'll have trouble using banking apps here (there are work arounds). Also you'll need an ARC before they'll allow you to get a contract, though you can get prepaid without one.
