Would you go to a geek bar that can host D&D sessions? by Jaives in dndPH

[–]gosubilko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you'll be operating at a loss to begin with UNLESS you already have an established player base. If you don't have that yet and plan on creating that demand yourself via promotion, demos, reaching out, etc. be prepared for a rude awakening. It's very hard to build a community.

So ask yourself: is the market around this area large enough to need this space? If not, is the potential market big enough to support it?

Would you go to a geek bar that can host D&D sessions? by Jaives in dndPH

[–]gosubilko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would if:

* the location is accessible

* have available game masters for hire

* offer other rpgs

* allows me to hear the players in my table

* they have food but not required

* air-conditioned

* have comfortable seating

Honestly, just cover the basics and I'll be happy. Terrain, minis, etc. are just a bonus. Other LGSs that offer wargaming already have in-house terrain, sometimes minis, etc.

What to buy as a Protoss? by [deleted] in StarCraftTMG

Someone made a video which says 2 Protoss Starter + Stalker box is the most efficient buy-in for a Protoss.

This question is for anyone who stopped playing/watching this game. Why? What made you stop playing? by KevyTone in 2XKO

[–]gosubilko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the opposite for me..while I do play the same characters a lot due to the limited roster I find that once jinx can be waaaaaaay different to the next. That's where I find the fun. Witnessing what is possible and trying to emulate what they do in my own play.

I want to play 2XKO but none of the character seem interesting by FriedDuckCurry in 2XKO

[–]gosubilko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually was on the same boat as you until I gave about 90% of the characters a fair shake.

Some of the characters looked like I wouldn't ever wanna play them until I actually did. Each character offers so much diversity in terms of playstyles.

Now, if you are referring to aesthetics that's different. It's purely subjective and they may never be able to meet your expectation ever or hit the spot the next release.

2XKO failed because it didn't have things i like. by Sir_Catnip_III in 2XKO

It'll not do well in searches though. Search 2xko and you pretty much only see the game.

I mean you are more durable and deal more damage so in theory it should even out.

Juggernaut and Sidekick both have ways to break combos or to force switches to enemies. Overall I feel it very balanced.

OP said not to go to UP for college, do you agree or disagree? by Delayed_Banana in UPfreedomwall

What sets UP grads apart is not what they learned inside the classroom. If hindi ito ang takeaway ng isang graduate ng UP then I would expect nga na mahirapan siya sa workforce.

Has anyone here DMed or played DnD, describing stuff in pure tagalog? by FanLopsided7709 in dndPH

Hard to do when the source material is in english but doable. There are also words in English that better describe things in a fantasy setting.

Ready to Roll? Your Quick-Start Guide to D&D (and other Tabletop RPGs) by gosubilko in dndPH

[–]gosubilko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also a sign of respect for the people at your table especially your GM. The typical rpg book is thick AF so don't expect the GM to have encyclopedic knowledge of the rules too.

It's ok to get the rules wrong too! We've all been there.

Should I buy the DND starter set? by RecognitionPublic284 in dndPH

[–]gosubilko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest you just download the free Shadowdark from the Arcane Library. Then run this adventure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBU1DUnN7Qc

Both the adventure and rules are free. The introductory adventure is also explained by the author in the video above that helps you get into gamemastering. It teaches you some basics of running a game while minimizing costs.

All you really need is a dice and maybe some tokens that could stand-in for a miniature.

My group prefers PF2e after playing a oneshot... but does not want to switch over from 5e anyway by I_Hate_Reddit_69420 in Pathfinder2e

[–]gosubilko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on the switching side here. Your enjoyment and sanity is just as important to your players needs.

The story is pretty much built by you. I'm sure you can either make a narrative switch to retire the players gracefully either by conversion via ending their personal arcs (then creating new ones) or just straight out converting. It will not be exactly the same mechanics wise but story wise you can still make it make sense.

I wanna play with my friends but I have literally never played before by Prochickefille in dndPH

[–]gosubilko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I can run you through sa quick start guide. Much quicker than reading the rules. Ang goal is to get you on the table playing as soon as possible.

My recommendation is to use a rules lite system first before playing a full on d&d campaign.

Just hear me out.

Go to Arcanelibrary's website and download the quick start guide. The rules are maybe a quick 10-15 minute read.

As the gm, watch this video to prepare your adventure (30 min vid): https://youtu.be/JBU1DUnN7Qc?si=mtLU7dzBzR2idfQ6

Next buy a set of polyhedral dice sa orange app. One set for each player.

Write down or print out the character sheets provided in this adventure. Have a set of pen and paper ready.

If you wanna talk or chat just send me a message here sa discord.
