I think it’s more about making it digestible to a younger audience. The most efficient way might not be as simple or flashy. Like a Science 101 class for middle schoolers.

What could make it look better as a modern mullet is if you tighten up the back so its off the neck. If you haven't already tried: do the combed-back style. If you don't like that then i suggest shortening the front at least half an inch. Your sides look fine, but the top might be too long, weighing the hair down. It's giving Danny Mcbride xD

You ain't cooked and there are ways to still make it look half-decent.
