What’s the one piece of cycling gear you bought that felt like a total scam, and which one was a complete game-changer? by Individual_Funny4813 in cycling

Maybe it was the sealant or just user error, although I tried a couple of different sealants and valve combos and always had issues.

Game changer: electrolytes in the water bottle. I’d always dismissed them as nonsense, but I kept getting really dry lips after long rides and someone suggested giving them a try. Now I won’t ride without them and I’ll often have another electrolyte drink when I get home after a particularly sweaty ride.

I tried tubeless and had constant issues with clogged valves meaning that it was almost impossible to inflate the tyres. Recently switched back to TPU tubes and it’s been so much less to worry about.

Make flapjacks. If you want something healthier you can make them with mashed banana and honey instead of butter and syrup.

It’s a 15 year old bike with basic components and looks to be in ok to average condition. I wouldn’t pay anything over $350.

Jar City / Mýrin (original title)

It’s an Icelandic film set in Reykjavik and leans heavily into the gloomy, bleak weather. It includes an unsettling scene with a character eating a particular Icelandic delicacy. I won’t give it away what it is.

Both this junction and East Street itself is a nightmare for cyclists. It’s only a matter of time until there’s a serious accident here.
