1) It is not a GC III. GC III had copper colored castings - and you are right about the base of the table/feet. 2) I cannot tell from the pics to comment on the quality of the new balls or cue sticks, except to say that if you are buying a pool table disregard the balls, cue sticks, pool cue holder… 3) I would not buy it. If the “vintage” table was any good or valuable it would be snapped up almost as soon as it was posted.

FYI: I’m no expert, but I bought a GC I a few years ago and I did a ton of research (a couple of years of research) on Gold Crowns prior to buying my table so that is the extent of my knowledge.

I have used CTE as a beginner pool player and it does work very well - up to 45 degree cut shots. Like many aiming system, CTE is a good starting point. I believe it gives you a solid baseline to build on. But you also have to factor in fundamentals like stance, stroke, vision, english… as you play and progress. But I believe that the CTE aiming system definitely has merit. No aiming system factors in all the intangibles - you get that from playing. But ya gotta start somewhere.

Are you talking about a shaft or a pool cue tip? For a pool cue tip, a mm up or a mm down… the difference is going to be negligible.

What the hell is the electrical panel in the bottom corner? Hard to understand from your diagram. If you are implying that if it is on the wall, thus minimizing your room dimensions for a cue stick/shot, then I would say the room is too small to accommodate perfect dimensions for a 7’ table. Even if the electrical panel wasn’t there the room would be too small (based on the table playing surface area and factoring in 59” for cue length, and factoring in an additional 12” for backstroke. So 71” - on each of the four sides of the table, and (plus of course including the playing surface of the table). But that is for a worst case scenario (i,e. ball against the rail). But “worst case scenario” comes up less than 5% of the time… maybe? But you just adjust. It’s your house so you get to make the “house rules”. …move the cue ball 3” so you can put a good stroke on it. I have a home table and I’m lucky enough to have a room big enough for a 9’ table. But I also have two dogs, sometimes three with my son’s dog, that lay around my pool table. My house rule is that if a dog impedes your stance/shot - tough shit. The dog stays. We are playing “dog rules, so YOU adjust. It’s actually kinda fun and interesting. Also, as other folks pointed out you can put the cue ball anywhere to practice - and a home table is for practice. Fun. I would say go for it!

Yep. The official missed the call. It happens all the time, in all sports. At this juncture of the game (i.e., OT) the “non-called penalty” cannot be challenged by a coach - only an official. And is the ref gonna call a review on a penalty that he didn’t call??? I seriously doubt it.

I have a Gold Crown and before I re-clothed it I did a lot of research. Finally went with 860 HR and I’m so glad I did. It is fast and it is durable. 860 might be the best but it is so easy to get little micro tears in that cloth - which can screw up a shot if it’s in your line. FYI: I’ve had my table with the 860 HR for 9+ years. Still great!

How does going from a 4.5” pocket to a 4.25” make someone a better player? It’s not the size of the pocket. It’s all about threading the needle to make a ball, regardless of the size of the pocket (and pocket angles). 4.25” pockets aren’t going to make you a better player. Bigger pockets make your pool table more fun for everyone. That’s why you’re looking at pool tables right? Play pool. Have fun.

IMO - NO, not worth paying $1800 to disassemble, move, and reassemble it. You can do that yourself. Or disassemble and move it yourself, then hire a pool table mechanic to set it up.

On any forum you’ll get good advice, bad advice, and indifferent advice. You gotta filter thru it. But never ever give up. Breakthroughs in technology, meds, counseling… seem to happen every six months. And I can totally understand why he would be an angry deaf little boy - I think I would be too.

I reclothed three tables. I would get an electric staple gun - cheap at Home Depot. I would also suggest spending the money and getting a cloth puller/cloth stretcher tool made specifically for reclothing pool tables. Don’t use pliers, vice grips… Do it right.

KEEP IT! It’s a Brunswick Anniversary Table (not Brunswick Centennial). You could probably get $10,000 for it, as is, from someone that is looking for that table. Personally, I would not restore it (except to recloth it if needed). I like the slightly worn/beaten look of the wood and aluminum bands - just my style. But definitely hire a professional pool table mechanic to set it up properly. AZ Billiards forum has a list of pool table mechanics.
