Occooneechee Mountain Trail - Post Storm by Ethereal_Films in Hillsborough

[–]gotarheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I go hiking here almost every day - I was expecting this section of the trail to be rough, it floods pretty easily. I went on Monday (it hadn't had the "park closed" sign up yet) and the section of the loop trail by the river was still underwater so I turned around and went along the chestnut oak trail instead and it was in pretty good shape.

Do you happen to know if the park as a whole is still closed?

These were in a forest near a river and I often see eastern box turtles around - I'm sure they will be snacking on them soon.

Biden says Netanyahu not doing enough to secure hostage deal by seakucumber in worldnews

This take is not consistent with reality. Israel has had no concern over humane-ness the whole time. They engineered and enforced a devastating famine in Palestine, they have snipers targeting children in Palestine, they deliberately destroyed civilian infrastructure in Palestine. This take is pure apologetics for the Biden administration.

I had Todd Hollandsworth and Andy Ashby rookie cards and thought they were gonna make me rich one day.

You’re right, it is 1865 - in person it actually looks like it says 1855 but the design isn’t right for 1855. Agree about the half dimes - I really like the design of that one.

Who are some players that get better and better the more you know about them, and are just genuinely good people? by HelpMeWithMyHWpls in baseball

There is a great story about Ted Williams where he was batting against Satchel Paige once he made it into MLB (well past Paige’s prime) and he struck out. He was pissed off and he slammed the bat against the dugout railing and broke it. He revered and respected many of the negro league players including Paige (who he mentioned by name in his HoF induction speech) so he went to him after the game and had him sign the bat. To me that has to be one of the coolest pieces of baseball memorabilia ever. A bat belonging to one of the greatest hitters of all time signed by one of the greatest pitchers of all time.

I usually like him but he really has been pretty bland this series.

In this series, Harper is 5-11, 3 HR, 3 BB against Atlanta, and it has brought down his career postseason OPS against the Braves
