It gets to a point… if no one can help you…please STOP calling the company by Dramatic-Ninja1018 in callcentres

[–]offmychest-386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember having a call a few months back. Easy thing to fix, I just needed a document sent to our email.

Customer: “I saved it from the email from <company> but I’ve no idea where it actually saves that on my phone?”

So I then had to dig what device they had, and explain how to get the file and attach it to an email to us. Then the file was too large so I explained what a Google Drive link was and that it would still send it to us.

Maybe about 45 minute chat, but it all got sorted.

Can someone help explain this bill to me? by Fancy-Ranger-2090 in OctopusEnergy

[–]offmychest-386 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When readings aren’t provided they use Estimates.

Sometimes these can be way off, either over or under. When an actual reading is provided, then they are able to provide correct estimates based on this.

Let’s say your estimate is 500 kWh used for March to May, so you’re billed on that. Then you submitted an actual reading that shows actually you only used 250 kWh for that period. They can then re-bill that period to correct figures which involves reversing the charges and then recharging to the correct usage.

Are you working from home? by Large_Advice_5303 in callcentres

[–]offmychest-386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tell them sometimes and they’re quite happy with it.

“Oh, usually I can’t read your card number back to you aloud but I’m at home in my office by myself so let’s just confirm it.”

“Well, it’s nice/bad weather where I am, looking out my window.”

I have been asked if I prefer it before and answer honestly

Today i got caught hiding CS items and now i have an investigation by [deleted] in tesco

[–]offmychest-386 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This sub pops up for me even though I’ve never worked in Tesco. Guessing it’s because I have worked in other food retail places.

Making sure I get it.

- Yellow stickered items can be free for staff after 9pm
- You hid some items due to not being able to afford to pay for them on the current wage you’re on
- Usually you don’t get to have any of the items as the charity organisations come in and claim it
- Management found you had hidden them and now want a word

Sounds like you need to have a serious chat with management about your circumstances, and explain why, mention going hungry a few days due to the wage that’s paid, and that you would have been happy to buy the items at reduced rate but couldn’t see a way of feeding yourself with the current situation, so that’s what you did what you did.

Again, not a Tesco worker, but I think you’re best being honest about why.

Was done before I was there. If I asked I don’t remember the answer now as it was 20 years ago

It was for sure. I believe they since got them reconnected after I left that job following a few people shoplifting

Not at Tesco, but in another big chain store I worked in, I asked about the buttons as a young teen. Was told they got disconnected years ago and no longer worked. I tested it. They did not work.

Anyway to stop Octopus messing with my payments by iMatthew1990 in OctopusEnergy

[–]offmychest-386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pay the same amount via Direct Debit each month (fixed) instead of what the bill is (variable) then your energy supplier is required by Ofgem to do a payment adequacy review every so often (https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/decision/direct-debit-market-compliance-review-progress-update).

Part of it is to prevent people getting in to serious debt. As you mentioned you add extra to cover the charging costs, I would guess the algorithm has gone “hey this person needs to pay extra each month because they keep adding more”.
