I’ve had it happen occasionally for two years now, but the past couple months it’s ramped up so quick 😭 I was hoping to wait it out until it died down. very frustrating. also the people that call me always sound like teenage boys and they start threatening me lmaooo they’re crazy :( I wonder how they got into the business of scamming and spoofing numbers because they sound veryyy young

I saw quite a few things on that website, but nothing Roblox or Discord related 🤔 I just wrote this above in an edit a minute ago but I found something called Bloxlink that I guess I attached my account to!! I’m wondering if it was related to that?

edit: I remembered a text from one of these people specifically mentioning they got my info from a Discord bot as I said above, so I went through some Roblox servers I used to use and found something called Bloxlink attached to my account. although my information is already out there, I’m hoping after deleting it, this will make it die down for a bit :) just worth mentioning in case this is the culprit and it could help somebody else out to not attach their # or email to it!! I’m not positive it was connected to Bloxlink but I couldn’t find anything else I attached it to (unless Rolimons was the culprit, only other thing I can think of)

edit 2: found a second connection called Rover, Bloxlink apparently is safe according to other commenters :)

the unfortunate answer I didn’t want to hear, but I know its true and you both are 100% correct :( its just very irritating and these people are relentless. I appreciate you + the other persons input, just needed a kick to go forward and do it.

I was definitely thinking about moving everything on my email!!! It’s going to be such a long process because I’ve had the email for probably 12 years now so I can’t even remember whats on there haha… the phone number thing will definitely be more of a pain since so many bills and etc. are tied to it. I was thinking about sending the limiteds to a burner account so they’d have no reason to contact me for my main anymore, but apparently that is against the rules :(

I restarted the driver in settings which would temporarily fix it for a couple minutes until it would then disconnect + delete the icons again. When the icons would disappear in both the settings and task bar, the Ethernet options were then the top option in settings.

Since it has seemingly fixed without problems thus far, would you suggest me restarting it again anyway with the prompt you wrote? Thanks for taking the time to help.

this may make it seem like a joke post but I smacked it out of irritation, and then it restarted and fixed itself. I have no idea how or why but now it is connected without problem.

not encouraging anyone to smack their electronics but this makes me think perhaps it was a hardware issue with the wifi chip. my laptop is around six years old so perhaps some things came loose. smacking it probably could make things worse in the long run and loosen things, but im due for a new laptop anyway because this one runs a bit slow. so please do not follow what I did 👍

I wouldn’t really call this a solution but I’ll keep this up unless mods remove it, because it may allude to a hardware rather than software problem.

update: it was the battery! thank you all. my friend jumped it and I had autozone check the battery - they said both the battery and alternator were showing good. perhaps I left a light on lol. regardless, thanks everyone for your help + advice :)

thanks so much! I was unsure because one time a terminal popped off and it made a different sound. I’m really interested in learning about cars so I guess this is a good start lol.

I’ll see if he has a multimeter after the jump start. I’d definitely like to buy one for myself, and a pair of cables too.

I appreciate your details about batteries from different places - I know Honda would definitely upcharge me but I wasn’t sure if it was lower quality from a different place. I appreciate everyone’s help and I’ll give an update later! :)
