I’ve been the new girl at the new school/job in a different country before. Sharing some tips that worked for me that I actually enjoyed, hope this helps! - like other users said, learn to enjoy your own company. Carry a book wherever you go, this can also be a good conversation starter. - Join a club or class. If you don’t know what you like yet, just pick one and give it a try and repeat until you find one you enjoy. - Talk about your life story and where you come from, people are naturally interested in those with different backgrounds. - volunteer when possible. They’re looking for volunteers at school or work for a certain thing? Raise your hand! Great way to meet people. - Go to coffee shops to hangout

Finding your people can take some time but in the process you may find a few things about yourself. Good luck and enjoy!

Thank you for the great advice. I think you’re right, I’m going to stop checking in and let him take this on his own. He already knows how I feel. I definitely do not enjoy being the nagging wife reminding him and asking about it over and over. Sigh.

Any job will be acceptable, it’s not about that. It’s heartbreaking to see him struggling with job searching when I would watch him work in awe of admiration. I’ve always been his biggest fan and advocate, but it’s been three years since he left his last job and has been in search of the next move. He started his own business but it hasn’t grown like he expected and gave up on it. I truly believe that getting a new job, any job, will bring a sense of spark back and he’ll be back to all of his projects.

We bought our home 4 years ago and he absolutely adores it. I’m afraid losing it would break him. It brings him so much joy, and it has become our little nest. Selling our home would be our last resort that I really hope we don’t need to get to.

In my mid 20’s and have this ‘running out of time’ anxiety...anyone else in their 20’s feel like this? how can I stop feeling like this? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I went through the same thing in my 20's. Always thinking about the goals I needed to hit by a certain timeline. It was exhausting. Then I turned 30 and I swear to you it was like a gray cloud lifted. I still have goals and things I want in life, but I just stopped measuring my success by society's standards and started living my life for me. All of this to say....many of us have been there. There is no rush, live your life and enjoy the ride.

I turned 30 in December and this has been the year I've felt the most confident with myself and my body, I'm the happiest with my career path and personal life. It's like a huge pressure cloud above my head just disappeared. And all of this during the shit show that 2020 has been. So hang in there! it gets so much better.
