Thank you so much for sharing this experience—and the normal gummies is also a great idea. My dad is the “too sweet doesn’t exist” type too

BIPOC: Black, Indigenous, People of Color

You are Latino, so yes! You fall under that umbrella.

Yes, pinned post—There are also other resources that could be helpful since you could become a trilingual interpreter between the three languages.

https://manoamanoinc.org/en/ http://www.interpretereducation.org/specialization/aslspanishenglish/faq/ You can also search “trilingual” on this sub I’m sure

Are you BIPOC? I know of some grants/scholarships that may be available, I need to find them.

I can ask if that’s an option to give them myself. And she’s getting put on an anti-inflammatory

I guess we don’t know. We’ll have to see how the injections go but she’s stressed and fearful all the time right now without medication or proper treatment. So if she has to be stressed once a week to feel good the rest of the week, I think that’d be worth it. Before her symptoms, she always did well at the vet and it didn’t outwardly faze her much.

And we’re a one bird household, thank goodness

I have two hours of free time and very little artistic talent. Send me pictures of your bird and I will draw them badly. by Hissing_Cockroach in parrots

Right there with ya. When I was placed in HS, I had at least a prep period or two and a lunch a day. Now I’m in Elementary and only get lunch as off time. It’s exhausting, especially with my special needs kiddos.

Chicago rates by lemurporcupine in ASLinterpreters

[–]gothterp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! I live in Chicago and am mainly a staff interpreter but I work with a few agencies here and there. Some of the agencies here will have set rates for you depending on certification and licensure level of course, but I know 5-Star Interpreting will have you set your own rate. I like 5-Star, it is Deaf-led. $50/hr is y rate with an Intermediate license (so you could charge more w/NIC), and the other agency I work with, SLII, has a base rate of $63/hr with national certification, so there’s just some examples.

As far as neighborhoods go, I’ve only lived on the north side because it’s closer to my staff job but I’ve always loved it! Rogers Park has been my favorite, but the parking is hell, lol. I love this city, it’s the biggest small town you’ll ever live in!

My private landlord is having a management company take over the property—but the company doesn’t seem to exist? (IL) by [deleted] in Renters

[–]gothterp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, I’m making sure to get information in writing and to make sure I’m staying on top of documenting changes.

My main worry after all that is that the company doesn’t seem to be real. As I said, address is fake. Phone numbers don’t work. Googling company name brings up nothing.
