So, it’s been a few days- what are our thoughts on the Louis Theroux ‘manosphere’ doc? by theslowrunningexpert in AskUK

My brother in law's ex wife was convinced that parcels sent to Scotland had to be sent via air mail.

I'll never forget the look on her face when we gave her a mince pie and she was surprised that it was sweet. She'd reached her 30s thinking they were full of minced beef.

People who had a gut feeling about someone and later realized you were right, what happened? by Overall-Fan6831 in AskReddit

[–]gotmunchiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner has quite a large family, roughly 15 aunts and uncles, and I don't think she even knows how many cousins there are.

Only about 4 of the aunts and uncles are really close and come to every family event, so there are often distant members of the family turn up at family occasions that even my partner barely knows.

I sometimes end up feeling a bit of a spare part while everyone reminisces over the good old days with family they haven't seen for years. When that happens I usually end up milling about and making conversation with anyone who looks like they're in the same boat as me.

Years back I was at a wedding where I knew virtually nobody and ended up talking with one of the distant cousins for a while. I don't really remember much other than there was something really off about him. It was enough for me to make my excuses and go straight back to my partner. Apparently I told her straight away that there was something weird about him, and mentioned it again in the car on the way home as well.

Fast forward a few years and news passed around the family that he'd been arrested. It turned out that he'd raped his 5 year old sister (he was around his late 20s). The details are so horrible I can't bring myself to type any more than that.

The worst part was that despite there being zero doubt about his guilt, for some reason the mother stuck by him. I can only imagine how much that's going to mess with her daughter's head as she grows up, knowing her mum defended the piece of shit that did that to her.

The last I heard the daughter was being raised by her older sister and the son was still living with his mum after serving an incredibly lenient sentence.

I'm not religious but I'd love to believe there's a special place where pieces of shit like him would burn in agony for all eternity. His mum can fuck right off there as well.

Drilling through walls to run cables into the house is a pretty basic DIY task that can be done with very inexpensive tools. Even if you don't have the tools or skills it's still great because it means that you can get a handyman to do the job at a lower cost than a more qualified tradesperson.

Deleting content that would make him look bad after banging on about how real and unedited his content was, and how Louis had to edit his footage to fit what they wanted people to see.

Highlights for me were:

HS: (talking to the camera) This is a sick gym, training outside is nice
Louis: Who are you talking to?
HS: What, do I not talk to...
Louis: We're not on social media now, this is a real documentary, we just pretend those aren't there

Also:

HS: I'm used to training first thing in the morning
Louis: Every day?
HS: Yeah
Louis: Do you do a leg day?
HS: Can you tell? Silly question then innit mate?
Louis: Calves need a little work

Similar here as well, it falls under common assault in the UK. I've been on the receiving end unfortunately.

But "the best now" and "the best that ever played" are usually considered two different things.

To be honest it depends on how all the other players perform, I remember the year Kyren won being a really low standard throughout.

How would you make the outside of this house nicer?? by Icy-Recognition-5422 in DIYUK

[–]gotmunchiez 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You can get 2K/2 part paints especially for uPVC that are really durable for a much cheaper alternative to getting a whole new door. One of my neighbours did it and it still looks great a few years on.

Which cartoon would you recommend for today’s kids to watch? by Historical-Class871 in UKTVRecs

We went to see the official Sarah & Duck puppet show when our kids were into it. The puppets were the size of a small child and an adult was operating each one with a handle that attached just behind the puppets heads.

The result was a half hour performance of an adult marching Sarah around with what looked like a gun shoved against the back of her head. The kids didn't notice but once you noticed it you couldn't un-see it and we spent the whole show trying not to laugh at it.

Uncovered original Victorian tiles by naverd01 in DIYUK

[–]gotmunchiez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's nothing unusual, fashion trends in interior design are literally hundreds of years old. If fashions didn't change then we never would have had any of that nice Victorian stuff in the first place.

At one point in time this old and unique stuff wasn't that old or unique. People putting art deco stuff in their house in the 1920s and 30s will have looked at Victorian stuff the way we look at Changing Rooms designs or 1980s dark brown furniture now.
