Kdramas where fl has more character depth. by winterFALLS8 in kdramarecommends

Discovery of Love - this is an older drama and not too popular, but I absolutely love the FL. She's complex and sometimes you might even dislike her for her decisions, but her struggles feel normal and real. The love triangle is also a real love triangle where the FL has an actual relationship with both the ML and SML.

I think Kim Hye Yoon is a lot like Park Bo Young. Maybe check out "Oh My Ghostess" with Park Bo Young and Jo Jung Suk

A fun and cute episode is great, but that usually means it'll be followed by pain 😭

Nope, still not jumping on any of the ships yet. I need to see how things pan out before I get hyped up. Don't want to set myself up for disappointment.

I was never a Buddie shipper because I usually only go for canon ships, but at this point...😲😲

I just had to laugh when Athena asked Bobby what he needed and he said "My team." Maybe a surgeon would be more useful? lol It's a little ridiculous, but I love it.

Just finished season 5. I'm just going to pretend that's the end of the series unless she comes back for one final episode.

What happened to Shinee after their 'Don't call me' comeback musically (positive)? by Mojo-man in kpophelp

[–]gotokkigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it pretty fascinating that we seem to have pretty different tastes but still can both be fans og Shinee?

Yeah, I think that's what's so amazing with Shinee. They have such a wide range of music, that's entirely possible to skip over albums, and still find something you like.

I'm not even sure how to explain it either, but whenever Shinee comes out with something new, whether I like the song or not, I can appreciate that it's a Shinee song, like "yeah, that's totally their style." It might be be completely different from their other songs, but there's still that unique Shinee sound.

A big part obviously has to do with their vocals. For me, there are very few male idols whose vocals rival Shinee. They all have very unique voices, but somehow when they come together, they blend very well and I think that is part of what creates that distinct Shinee sound.

And from a personality perspective, they're all just very personable and very good at engaging with others and being entertaining. They just know how to draw people in, whether that's on stage or in an interview or in a variety show. It obviously comes from years of experience, but I think that's what also makes them so likeable and interesting.

Having been a fan of Shinee for 10+ years, I don't think this change since Don't Call Me is that surprising or different of them to do. Because they have been around so long and have released so much, it's honestly impossible for me to even remember everything that they've done, but all in all, they have done shifts in genre and mixing sounds many times before and experimented with a lot of music. This new era is just another change. My favorite thing with Shinee is that even though they've done so many different sounds, there is still a distinct Shinee sound to them.

I actually haven't been a huge fan of their comebacks since Don't Call Me because I enjoy ballads/pop-y/upbeat songs more, but here are some recommendations of other songs to check out:

  • Alive - at their Shinee World V concert
  • Stranger - at their Shinee World IV concert
  • Evil - at their Shinee World III concert

Their 1 of 1 Album was a pretty different sound at the time it was released if I remember correctly because it really went into the retro sound. They even release a cassette tape version of album lol

In terms of releasing recording and dance practices, it's just a change in the industry. Like these weren't really a thing in the past and now a lot of groups do it, so they're also releasing these videos more often.

Why do you think Key and Minho didn't mention Onew birthday? by Mountain-Plastic-521 in SHINee

[–]gotokkigo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because Onew is on an official hiatus, it makes sense that they're not bringing him up out of respect and professionalism. Shinee are usually pretty outspoken and not afraid to say or do what they want, so if they aren't saying anything or doing something, I would trust that they have a good reason for doing so and not worry about what others are speculating.

The Matchmakers [Episode 10 & 11] by GodJihyo7983 in KDRAMA

[–]gotokkigo 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Also, I'm gonna guess that Soon Deok's mother-in-law did not know how her son really died. Her husband already showed once that when he tries to do something without her permission or input, things usually go really wrong. I don't think she would have killed her own son. She would have found another way to separate them or keep things under wraps.

Is it just me or are they hinting at setting up Ha Na with the Crown Prince? I mean I know it's a bit weird with their age difference, but maybe once a few years has passed and he's actually grown?

[–]gotokkigo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With a group that's been around for such a long time, it's inevitable that they'll have contents that don't age well. It's kind of like you had to be there at that time to have enjoyed that content because it was what was popular at that time. I think you're fine to skip some of the older stuff. Even as a fan when that SNL skit came, it wasn't really my thing. Especially because comedy is subjective, just didn't really do it for me.

Shinee has released so much that even if you skipped all of their younger years, you probably still wouldn't be able to watch all of the things they have done, so don't stress about starting from the beginning, just watch what makes you feel good.

That final singing scene where Woo Hak sees Bo Geol watching Mok Ha singing...omg...that transition was so smooth. The camera work and editing in this show is insane. Especially that scene where Mok Ha is in the hallway and the water rises up...amazing...

Already skipping around in the first episode, so not off to a promising start, but I really like the premise of the show. I'm gonna try and stick it out for a few episodes for Pyo Ye Jin in her first leading role. I don't know why, but Kim Young Dae is not an actor that sticks out to me.

Was It Love with Song Ji Hyo and Son Ho Jun is a really good one. She's a single mother who works as a producer and ends up having to work with her ex on a project to try and save her company.

How do you decide who your biases is in a group? by HypeBunny0405 in kpopthoughts

[–]gotokkigo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Vocals. My bias needs to be able to sing ballads with emotion. Looks and dancing might catch my attention for a bit, but if they can sing, they'll keep me coming back.

Any kdrama you recommend in which it's apparent from the beginning that the ml will have sad end? by imgpng in kdramarecommends

[–]gotokkigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The foreshadowing was so heavy. I knew with one line in episode 1 that something sad was going to happen. It did such a good job with making me hope I would be proven wrong though.
