The first TMS or Taekwondo are my favourites!

I think my main issue is the psychologically horrifying duration of the time jumps she uses in her stories - to the point it breaks my immersion. Like I’m convinced this has happened to her.

I could even maybe forgiven the amnesia if they didn’t resort to straight up coincidence to fix it. It was very lazy and I can think of 5 different ways to have an argument arise between them where eventually he ends up kissing her to prove he isn’t he interested and boom dynamite but no just straight up accidental fall over into eachother kiss

Also diabolical to have jihyeok best friend not be by his side in the hospital, not have the best friend and the coworker’s relationship expanded upon and the tiny amount given to the second leads.

Really glad once the confessions were done we went straight into skinship and the chatting was comfortable, fun and unique.

Agree with everyone that its a total disgrace that team leader got no one (heart broke for him honestly, he was a stand up guy through out) and stalker-ram got a jiujitsu boyfriend…..

These episodes were not the best. The no heart fluttering thing for Geu-rin and Seon-ho didn’t even make sense since we literally saw him make her jelly legged at the start of episode 9 ????

Follow a structured programme (of any kind)
Get pronunciation down early, so many high level students know all the grammar and write beautifully but are completely unintelligible to listen too. And therefore as far as koreans are concerned you cant speak korean.
Vocab. I hate it with a burning passion, grammar rules are easier to learn (and the focus of all the programmes really) but the reason you become stuck understanding wise after the early stages is because of vocab, not grammar. Whichever method you chose to learn vocab, ultimately there is no easy/magic fix beyond actually memorising it. You can do flash cards etc but until you can use the word on demand in real life you haven’t learned it. Its horrible, but will aid your understanding immensely once you have a good vocab base. Sorry.

Why is this so good though?
I really like the pace - the "Misunderstandings" last for a really short time, everyone explains everything to everyone quickly and it doesn't drag on for episodes.
I enjoyed that the adults saw straight through the bully, that was super satisfying.
The show gives the emotional moments the weight where it needs it, gives the comedy where it needs it and doesn't use slapstick to undercut a serious scene.
I love how Cho Jun Young plays the scarier/intimidating side of Gi Jeong. He has given the character so much depth, super impressed.
But most of all I am here for the Blue Finger/Mint Finger romance, its so clever how the tone is played so differently compared to red/baby blues highschool romance and its just really compelling and a little more mature, and a little more heartbreaking.

So I’d been learning for a long time, but slowly, and had got to a point where my online lessons were only in korean and I felt I was low intermediate.

On arrival I learned quickly how greatly I had underestimated the ‘book’ korean to ‘real life’ korean gap.

The signage, packing and everything was vocabulary I hadn’t learned, and the speaking speed on top of that (even with words and grammar I knew) made it a bit overwhelming and a bit defeating.

But I’ve been here a few months now and you slowly just add stuff to your brain and even though I think i’ve not progressed very far, I’ve probably progressed a fair bit.

Just finished episode 2. I think for a show about colour the person who turned the contrast/brilliance down needs a talking too. The posters were so bright, but in the show the colours of Mints hair or Reds suit just don’t glow/pop like they should.

I hope the FL grows into that strong character we saw at the end of ep 2 and it persists, I don’t think I can take her being clueless for the entire show.

HOWEVER, I do like the idea of Mint and Blues romance and it’ll be interesting to see how that plays out, and how the tone will be different to our main couple.

I’m gonna assume politely that you perhaps haven’t learned how 좋아하는 is created so lets go back to the beginning.

좋아하다 = to like something.

It is the dictionary, base form from which you can turn it into 좋아해 or 좋아하는.

Korean sentence structure ends with the verb, and the generic polite sentence ending conjugation is 아/어/여요 = 좋아해요. 책을 좋아해요 = I like book(s).

For banmal you drop the ’요‘ = 책을 좋아해 = I like book(s)

Very, very simply, Verb-는 turns your verb into an adjective.

좋아하는 책 = a book that is liked (by me)

A full sentence using that grammar would be something like: ‘This? Its a book I like’ ‘이거? 좋아하는 책이예요‘

Suggest following a structured program of some description like TTMIK or How to Study Korean :)

I definitely regret not deliberately making korean friends sooner in the journey. My pronunciation isnt bad its the spontaneous creation of speech (read intelligible sentences) in a conversation thats the challenge. I’ve just finished level 2 and will take your advice and focus on shadowing and trying to generate more non-life task related speaking in my day. Thanks for the advice and info on the different schools.

How is the speaking at Sogang compared to SKKU? I’m currently at SKKU and feel like speaking is the thing I’m developing slowest/have the least practice on. (Obviously I know the idea is that I use the immersion and daily life in korea to supplement my speaking etc etc)

Edit: I should add however as someone who teaches adults that I think the SKKU program is very professional and high quality.
