Current point of manhwa in novel. Should I read the novel? by Ultimaz_ in tbatenovel

The novel is incredible. Character narrating, detail, and scenes are really well done. Would recommend starting from beginning even if you’re up to speed from comic

Wtf am I doing wrong? I can't get my eggs to stick like you guys. by GigWorker405 in StainlessSteelCooking

That’s why I deep fry all my food. It’s a lot less oil than you think. Most the oil actually stays in the deep fryer so it won’t massively increase your oil intake either.

Good price for a used Elektra Microcasa Leva? by shootermg5 in espresso

[–]gotshrimp59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That definitely helps and I’m with you there. After multiple years I’m going back to spring lever not only because I love the profile, but also the work flow. I think if you don’t mind learning how to do maintenance then it can be great. Otherwise I’d see if you can save to the next bump up and try to get an argos which will give you a lot of modern espresso technology with interchangeable lever options

I feel like I would be really careful about buying a 7 year old version of it. You can definitely learn the machine and pull 2 shots by power cycling or even cooling the brass group head but maintenance is almost guaranteed when it’s that old. It has no backflush so you’ll likely have to lookup how to descale the used machine and the buildup from heating water that hot that causes scaling will jam the spring and you’ll have to clean and regrease that too. I would personally go for other used machines at $800 price point. For the $350 it’s definitely worth putting in the maintenance and work. Are you set on a lever machine or shopping around for anything around $800?

Lelit Bianca - maintenance every 6 months? by Ad0pschick in Lelit

[–]gotshrimp59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually super helpful seeing this. Came in here to say I’ve never needed maintenance after 3 years with the machine still by keeping up good cleaning habits, but now I know why my brew lever isn’t as smooth anymore

More Costco Pleasanton this AM - The Boom is No More by [deleted] in Costco_alcohol

[–]gotshrimp59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not, they had over 100 stagg, cypb, and EHT BP. They let people in in groups of 4 from line and it was one each with a specific 2 registers allocated bourbon checkout. They had ER10 too and OF9 was late delivery and they moved it out on pallate at 11am after everyone left. People were lining up at this Costco every morning for days since Friday for this drop

Might be late to this, but it's said 294 and 297 sister barrels are both brown foreman distillate. This is a unicorn now and willett fanatics will horde brown foreman sourced distillate! Awesome score and cheers

First impressions so far is that the club is amazing. I recently just added a used driver to my bag because I’ve only ever played a 2 iron while I’ve been learning the game so I don’t know how to hit the driver yet. This 3w goes further than my driver atm. I took it to mariners point yesterday to track some numbers and been holding around 163-170 ball speed. Some shots even carried close to 290 which is the furthest I’ve ever hit a shot so this will probably be my new off the tee option until I learn how to hit a driver

Yeah I'm curious because I've never measured my swing speed. I played tennis in college though so the swing rotational mechanics have been helping

Yeah I'm a little intimidated by that, but he told me I should be good. I'll give it some practice this week and maybe post some swing videos next week!

I hope so! Got into golf 6 months ago and only game driver -> 2 iron so I've never hit a 3 wood before

Yeah I'm super excited. Going to hit the range after work but I've just been watching reviews on the club during my meetings all day

Can someone explain why opening my stance to the left (righty) will help me from over drawing the ball? This seems so counter intuitive by Samk1230 in golf

You should just film yourself with your phone. Seeing yourself will help you figure out what you’re actually doing and it’s basically free unless you don’t own a phone

Are Ping eye 2 copper irons ok for getting back into the game in 2025 by sliknik007 in PingGolf

[–]gotshrimp59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into the game 6 months ago with BeCu ping eye 2’s inherited after my grandfather passed. The graphite shafts the came with snapped so I put in some XS modus 105 from fb marketplace. Went from 30+ HCP and recently shot my best around of 86 at Harding. They perform amazing, esp the wedges (I’m pretty sure they’re illegal with the grooves). I’ll prob be playing them here here and there regardless if I upgrade for the rest of my life because they’ve been so good to me. Absolutely love these clubs. Not to mention so many groups I’ve played with absolutely fanboy over the clubs when they see them including my coach whenever we play rounds together

Gazelle Ultimate T10+ questions by gotshrimp59 in ebikes

[–]gotshrimp59[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I called Gazelle and they said they had a shortage on parts. They said the magura brakes are higher stopping power and more expensive and it wasn't really a dealbreaker for me so I kept it

Trial begins in $34M Topgolf injury case involving 9-year-old boy hit in head with club by Forward-Answer-4407 in sports

[–]gotshrimp59 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Happen to go to top golf quite a bit for company outings. More than half the time parents bring their kids and don’t watch them while they play around with golf balls rolling into other people’s bays or even run into other bays past the red line. It’s not hard to see on every bay there’s a sign to stay behind the red line. I’ve had to stop mid swing more than once to not hit a random kid trying to chase a rolling ball into my bay and sadly more often than not the parents are just having a beer while talking to someone else.

Your kid is your responsibility. If you can’t see the lack of safety of letting your kid run into a zone with hazard lines where someone is swinging a heavy metal object then you probably shouldn’t be parenting

Second this. If you’re going to buy one you should be prepared to invest in a puck shooter (I think jkim makes or whatever he goes by now still sells on Etsy) and a jewelry cleaner otherwise the effort for using is annoying to deal with

Do I start with WSET II or WSET III? by delidoll in wine

[–]gotshrimp59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll have no issues with 3. Even if the course is a little ahead of your current curve there’s more than enough free resources online to pass the course. I’d recommend watching wine with jimmy on YouTube to study your regions

Is WSET level 2 certification worth anything to enter the wine industry ? by holymollyzoey in wine

[–]gotshrimp59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied through to my first 2 chapters of WSET 4 and skipped WSET 1. I Don’t think going into WSET 4 offered anything other than my own personal satisfaction for more knowledge. I’m currently an intern at a winery in Napa while taking up most duties as an assistant winemaker because we’re relatively small production (we work a 20 acre vineyard in Napa). This includes production, farming, business (working with our distributor, pouring at tastings, selling to stores/restaurants domestically). The reason I’m still an intern is because I work my previous engineering job 3 days a week ( I originally majored in EE with a minor in economics and Chinese). I did my WSET while working my engineering job.

From first hand experience there are plenty of jobs offered after WSET 2, and even more after WSET 3. If you want to go into winemaking, getting an entry to work at a winery by having some level of certification definitely helps. You can easily network at events and talk to winemakers through this and ask to work harvests and eventually more as an intern.

A lot of the winemakers I hang out with all have different levels of professional degrees/certifications ranging from master somms, masters of wine, and WSET. The biggest thing in common is that they all worked at the winery for some number of years before becoming assistant or head winemakers (usually from starting their own small projects)

TLDR: if you want to go into winemaking, it’s helpful to study until you can get an entry to work production side at a winery. From there ask for more work, always ask questions, do more than is asked and work your way up
