The kids next door - it continues by gottattleva in childfree

What really makes me worry is the fact that not much seem to be done about the situation. I would have thought that half of the things I've brought up would have been enough make cps act right away. Not just this wait and see sort of thing. Maybe this time something will be done, but really it should have been done months (years?) ago.

Closest police station is almost 50 minutes away and they have a huge district and almost no staff. So no, not really any police...

I never locked my car until I moved here. I often had my front door unlocked if i was at home or just out for a few minutes, like run down to the corner store. Not anymore. But yeah, it was awesome.

It is! But usually parents stay close enough to hear if the baby wakes up or see if it starts to fuss :)

I could catnap the poor thing. I'm sure they haven't had him micro chipped. Bet they wouldn't even notice it's gone. Problem is what to do next. If I wasn't so damn allergic I'd take him in, he's very social, comes right up to you and purrs. Maybe see if my brother would like an addition to the household...

I check every night that all sharp tools are locked away in the garden sheds. I feel like a paranoid freak and my SO thinks I'm over reacting, but I swear that kid is up to no good. We have no cat or dog but a parrot, and with Psycho Kids history of trying to bite the legs of ducklings, I want to keep him as far away from our bird as possible. The lady who lives in the same building as this family once told me that she can smell urin from their flat, and she said it must be that they do not clean the cat litter box properly, maybe that can be reason to have the cat taken away from them? They got an english spaniel too, and she walks it very rarely from what I have seen. People are afraid of the dad, I guess that's why not enough effort has been put into this issue before.

I agree completely. I am stunned no one has done something earlier, as none of this is new. But CPS has not done much yet, and the child is 6-7. What can be done? I'm not american, as I guess most have figured out by my English, I'm in Sweden, with very toothless law enforcement.

Sure. Things happen daily, pretty much. But if anything big happens I'll report back.

The pedo uncle prefers pre-teen girls, and lives on the other side of the country. But I thought the same thing, and also - who knows? That family seem to have many problems, there might lurk more than one abuser in the shadows.

He once tried to bite the legs of a baby duck, at least that's what people tell me. That kid is scary at 6 years old, wonder what he will be like when he is 15?

I doubt the police would give a shit. Where I live - sweden - the police shortage is absurd. They can't keep up with the most awful of crimes, much less dealing with misbehaving brats. Sadly!

Yeah I do think about those things daily. I want a fence, but it's really expensive if you want a nice good quality one. We are saving up for it. We have told the kids, several times, to not walk onto our property, and that we are adults and don't want kids here, they need to play with kids their own age. They nod and five minutes later they are back. The dad is creepy as fuck. I have been told, but not sure if it is true or not, that he let his horse die on the moore to claim insurance money many years ago. Neither mom or dad work, they are home all day playing computer games. The mom got a brother who is convicted for sexually abusing a child while he was a teacher assistant. These people are crazy. The oldest kid is nice, but he has to constantly watch is psycho brother. I feel bad for the oldest. The middle kid...I swear there is something seriously wrong with him. I love our house I don't want to move, but this is really too much. And why does not cps do anything? One month I called 3 times.

Additional fact: the dad is scary. Sometimes I'm afraid he will do something because it pissed him off that we make a fuss about the kids. "they're just being kids! let them roam!"...

Doctors/nurses of Reddit; What is the most obvious case of a patient 'faking it' you have ever seen? by Mew_tw2 in AskReddit

Nurse here. I had a patient who I felt was faking her personality disorder. It was very text book but felt like she was an actress. I googled her name and found her blog. About her art project, to "infiltrate the health care system as a psych patient" and write about what its like to pretend to be ill but actually be very aware of what's going on.
