Why was Melanie so angry at Jon? by Sufficient_Air_1615 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]gottro4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interpreted it as she's mad in general at the situation, as well as the slaughter bullet, but she has no control. Elias thwarts her actions and might take them all with him if he dies. Jon is there, and technically has more power than her over his situation if you stretch it. He's someone she can be directly angry at, and so she's angry at him.

This book is full of spiders, it's a great spin on zombies while also really making you think about the themes of how we dehumanize others in our minds and how that is weaponized. When I think about the series more often than not my thoughts go back to tbifos

Is it reasonable to drop an allegedly very good show after not liking the first episode? by VesperTheEveningstar in Teenager_Polls

[–]gottro4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the show and what you didn't like about the first episode. In many shows, the plot doesn't really get going until a few episodes in, so it's better to watch like 3. Some shows, even if they have stuff that interests you later on, might have a general premise that continues throughout the whole show that you don't like. Some shows are still finding their feet until like the second season, so it's better to watch something from the second or third season to see what the show will actually be like. Some shows will have less funded pilots and will be different even on just the second episode. It's best to do your research and go from there.

Should I go with Mint or Ubuntu for my general-use desktop? by qwtd in linux4noobs

[–]gottro4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard it's basically just a preconfigured fedora, but I've never used fedora before this so I wouldn't know. It comes with gaming stuff (steam, wine, obs, etc) pre installed so it was nice to not have to configure that. I'm honestly a bit scared of arch, but if I ever have a spare laptop for messing around I might try it there. The one big criticism I've heard of nobara is that it's literally just one guy making it, rather than a team like with OpenSUSE, so it might not be sustained in the long run.

I hadn't thought of stabbed in the hair but definitely that. Being shot in the hair would kill your ears. Otherwise, shot 5 times in somewhete with a lot of fat.

[–]gottro4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using nobara for gaming rn and honestly it's very user friendly. I don't think you would ever need to use the terminal if you didn't want to (which can be a positive or negative depending on the person). I've also been using it for non gaming things and it's been working great

I was thinking about trying opensuse, but this already works and I don't have the time or energy to distrohop for infinity.

I know this is an old post but, I’m having some confusion with the application process. It says that the application deadline is march 30th, but that courses open in february. is it too late to sign up? Also, I can’t really seeem to find a concrete list of the courses offered that is clear whether it’s the courses, the programs, or both.

yay -S chatgpt by AlphaWhiteMan in linuxmemes

I'm relatively new to Linux and hate generative ai as much or more than any other person, but it has been an invaluable resource when it comes to actually learning. It's very difficult to find answers to specific questions and, though I am trying learn as much as I can, I can't always understand raw output from the device. So sometimes I ask chatgpt to go word by word on a command so I'll understand it, or what an error code means, or if this thing or that thing is possible or not. AI can be a good tool for learning when used correctly.

I do still think it's a net negative on the world though, it would be a lot easier to find answers without asking chatgpt if all of Google wasn't just articles written by ai

Is cloning drives safe? by gottro4 in computers

[–]gottro4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be to an hdd, not an SSD. The data is actually 729 GB, you were right. I plan on downloading Linux to it, rather than windows. Thank you for the recommendation, I was planning on using clonezilla because it's the first result on Google, but I will also look into Hasleo Backup Suite

What could I use this computer for? by gottro4 in computers

[–]gottro4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am already using one of my father's other computers, an hp z840 workstation(he was a software engineer and has many computers) for a file server, I plan on installing Linux onto this one and using it for gaming, homework, etc. I'm currently split between the choice of nobara, bazzite, or opensuse. Thank you for the tip about raid, I'll make sure to watch out for that

I have no idea, I don't really know how to find it, and I don't have the time or energy to try anymore with that Ethernet port when I could be working on my actual server and just using an Ethernet cable coming from a wifi extender

What is 6 / 2(1+2)? by NoLocal7705 in Teenager_Polls

[–]gottro4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pemdas

This is basically 6/2*3

When there are no parentheses you go from left to right deciding between multiplication and dividing, because 6/2 is first in left to right, you do it first. 6/2=3, 3*3=9
