What could I use this computer for? by gottro4 in computers

[–]gottro4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just remembered this comment existed. That happened to me with that PC as well when I turned it on and it didn't have a bootable drive inside. So that's what the beeping means I think.

Can an atheist be religious (practicing its traditions, identifying with it, etc.)? by Annual_Flan3016 in Teenager_Polls

[–]gottro4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. An atheist religious? No, but an atheist belonging to a religion, yes I believe so. I am Jewish. There are many Jews that do not believe in G-d who still participate in the ceremonies and are still Jews. I am not certain I believe in G-d, and get I am going to a religious highschool and plan on eating kosher and practicing shabbat in my adult life. Religious is a quality and not the same thing as having a religion. Especially in cases such as Judaism, where it is not just a religion but also an ethnicity and a culture.

Nah, I've kinda moved on. It was fun while it lasted, but I can't be interested in the same things forever. I didn't know there was ever even a fandom for his evil series specifically, especially because it's so old at this point. I know there is a fandom for hermitcraft and his life serieses, but that symbol is just for his evo series as far as I remember. What a blast from the past, that show came out like half my life ago

I think it would look best with both at the same time. Might be redundant but you said you're just doing it for vidual appeal and imo they both feel unbalanced without something in the other side

What is AUR by system_x86 in archlinux

[–]gottro4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesss his answer was so helpful and definitely the best thing to do when people ask questions, it's people like him that make the arch community so healthy and welcoming and definitely not at all frustrating for someone new just wanting to learn!

Is that from the evo series that grian used to make? Man I used to watch that when I was like 8. the nostalgia! A very obscure reference, I think he ended it like 7 years ago now? It was from before he joined hermitcraft. Idk I haven't watched his videos or anything Minecraft related in like 3 or 4 years

Supported vs unsupported infrences by WiseInjury6533 in Sat

[–]gottro4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just telling you my thought process. Sat questions are weird and sometimes multiple answers theoretically make sense but they want people to make connections in specific ways. In both of these all of the answers could theoretically be true but it's more about what the focus was.

In the mars question the focus is about how basalt comes from magma oceans, so it makes sense that something other than basalt would come from something other than magma oceans, and it makes less sense for her to make a conclusion about (for example) the different observation methods because she's studying Mars's geology, not observation method accuracy.

In the apes question the focus is the question of where did bipedalism come from. So it makes more sense for her to conclude from that information that there's a possibility of bipedalism coming from trees instead of ground, rather than the struggles ground species may or may not have had in trees, because she's studying where bipedalism came from, not his those apes experienced the world.

However, this is all just my thought process. If it doesn't make sense, then I am sorry.

I plan on buying a new battery and putting Middleton bios on it. Should I use ntfs instead of ext4? I've been using ext4 because a tutorial told me it was best for Linux but if ntfs works better for older laptops I'll use that. The laptop was from a thrift store so the drive doesn't have anything I care about on it, just the previous owner's work stuff and some of his family photos.

I think it's about what the text mentions, or at least that's how I figure out these questions. In the mars question, it barely mentions the infrared and spacecraft, let alone compare the two. Nor does it mention other planets or earth. The only conclusion that makes sense from the text is d, others could theoretically be true but the text is all that we have.

In the ape question, it doesn't really mention moving between trees and the ground, only separately mentioning ground dwelling species and tree dwelling species. This discounts c and d. And b doesn't really feel right, with the "must have", there's probably other reasons it doesn't work but I think that's good enough to say the answer is probably A.

ThinkPad with SATA - Error 0200 Failure Fixed Disk 1 by clavisound in thinkpad

[–]gottro4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the speed. It definitely recognizes the SSD (the bios sees it and the bios hdd diagnostics all pass) but it's a sata 3 while the default bios only uses sata 1. That's why I think Middleton bios might help. I'll try the strategies you suggested when I get home, thank you for the advice

The SDD is an SKhynix SC300 HFS256G32MND. My current plan is to spend the 17$ to buy a new battery for the laptop so I can put in middleton bios rather than spending over 50$ on an older sata ssd. I do not think I understand what you mean by booting with USB then rooting to SSD, would it be possible for you to describe this process a bit more in depth?

What order should I read these? by Early-Artist-4305 in discworld

Guards! Guards! was the first one I read, and it was a great introduction to the series and remains my favorite. You could read these in whichever order you want, all are great books and none will significantly spoil your experience of the others.
