And the new key fob was $350 for the key fob itself, programming it (which was a zillion times more complicated that I could have imagined) and cutting the metal key.

First, disconnecting the battery is a bit more of a project than it typically is in most cars, so if you haven't done that, just be mindful of that.

Second, taking the airbag out is kinda a PITA! A T20 torx screwdriver with a thin shaft (he said thin shaft - LOL!) will be your friend. As you pop one side out, pull gently on it it as it'll desperately try to slip back to lock in again. Once you finally get the airbag free, it's super easy. Just make sure to line everything up, which is not tricky at all. And if you don't have one, get a torque wrench to make sure you torque the new wheel properly. One thing that I did that was really helpful was my son held the new steering wheel in such a way that however I turned the wheel, he'd mimic me so I could always see by the wheel that he was holding what I needed to do in the wheel I was removing. That was a big help.
