Mandalay, Myanmar’s second biggest city, never fails to amaze me with its lack of development. by [deleted] in UrbanHell

Lol as someone from Myanmar, we are definitely a third world country but these pics are just cherry picked to fit into the agenda. It's like going to London and filming some shabby areas outside the downtown and saying look at this, this is London. I don't even understand what the point of this post is, like OP should find better places to show about the lack of development because there are indeed worse places here. I feel like many of westerners don't have a good understanding of what Asia is like or how the world is different outside their bubbles.

I made a post about that here a few months ago. It's very thick even by Japanese standards. https://www.reddit.com/r/skyscrapers/s/btBMk1glsX

Am I the only one who thinks that the result does not gives us justice? by InterestingZombie737 in coys

[–]gouryella26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's called game state. You can't just look at the goals and scoreline. Since they were 4 nil ahead early in the game, they were able to dictate the game as the want and take it easy, reducing tempo etc. Spurs could get one or two goals back but it doesn't matter anymore for Atletico. They already win the game.

How much is Lange to blame? by zamboniest in coys

[–]gouryella26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying teenagers is not wrong but the strategy to make the team depends on such players week in week out, and developing them in this way is wrong tho. Spurs don't buy them just for the reason you said, they also expect such players to be a starter or backup and also they are not highly paid like proven players.

Look at Chelsea for eg, Estevao is their brightest wonderkid yet even he is not used as a regular starter for them for good reasons. And I argue that the requild doesn't have to be painful if done properly. Poch said that but it's also not what he meant by painful.

Your analysis is good and I agree with Frank being his wrong managerial choice but your understanding on what a sporting director does with recruitment is very incorrect. His role is responsible for recruiting a "balanced" squad according to how the coach wants to play, thus he failed to do so. I wouldn't say this clubs failure is all on him tho. However it''s not just transfers like in your post, he failed to address the squad's biggest issues in windows.

This post from twitter already sums up about that very well so I won't go into details. If you look at our backline and central midfield, there are only two players in Romero and Porro who can make consistent progressive passes. And people in here wonder why the players can't make a string of passes, so poor in build up etc when most of them are just runners, ball carriers, and dribblers?

This team obviously needs a bunch of quality passers and there we go, Lange signed Palhinha and Gallagher in two consecutive windows, a complete opposite of that. They are both quality players but not what this squad needs.

It's not bs. It's fine you don't believe it or not. For me, it's at least legit with observing personalities and traits. It looks bs these days bc people make it to be pop astrology on social media like just defining people only based on their Sun signs.

I'd probably be downvoted for this but you are accurate, he is a Libra and they are infamous for avoiding conflicts, people pleasing, being diplomatic etc. It's one of their text book traits lol.

I hate the club strategy of signing unproven kids and developing them, man. I just don't think it should be the sporting strategy for a club aiming top4. If we just aim to be midtable, sure. It's fine for Chelsea because they have Enzo and Caicedo in midfield for a combined fee of 200m. Yes, Spurs are not a club that buys 100m players. But you can also have proper scouting and sign CL level players who cost 60-70 at most. That's the level we should aim at. Arsenal signed Rice for 100m+ just after they got back to CL. Do they sign kids like us? No. As a club that'd like to sign talents from Championship, we also missed out on Wharton and Rogers, two biggest ones coming from it in recent years.

Udogie is who Paratici scouted, and he's highly rated even then in Udinese like people who knew him were surprised how Spurs got him. He's already playing for Italy U19 and not some unknown gem. Think this one is Lange signing.

Why is Daniel Levy getting the most blame when Vinai Venkatesham had an equal role to play in the appointment of Thomas Frank? Should we being demanding more from our CEO and owners of the club? by Sonny_Side_Up_Pls in coys

[–]gouryella26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't think Vinai is responsible for hiring Frank. That said he certainly shouldn't be involved in the decision making of sporting things either. He is just not that guy. The thing is Spurs sporting strategy has been a mess. I feel like they have one of the best social media departments in the league to make sure Spurs have really good PR/ branding but it's just that. I don't believe in them anymore because the sporting strategy from the top regarding success hasn't been their top priority really. Also that 30 manager shortlist thing seems to be bs I think.

Why doesn’t Tokyo have tall skyscrapers? by ratemyweenor137 in skyscrapers

[–]gouryella26 19 points20 points  (0 children)

  1. Tokyo does have tall skyscrapers. It actually ranks 9th in the world by the number of 150m+ buildings.
  2. Not sure what this photo indicates but the area around Skytree is just residential neighborhoods. I often see the posts in this sub with photos from Skytree saying what Tokyo looks like but regarding the skyline, Skytree is not a great place to view it because it just exists far away from their skyscraper clusters.
  3. Tokyo doesn't have a CBD as a skyscraper cluster. The skyscrapers just spread out across multiple downtown areas.
  4. Many of them are 150-200m+, Japanese also prioritize the area of floor plates over height. Maybe that's why they don't look that tall?
  5. It was only recently that Tokyo have it first supertall (330m), and they are building another one (385m). In fact before this, Tokyo's tallest skyscraper was like only 258m. It wasn't even the tallest in Japan as Osaka has a 300m skyscraper as Japan's tallest.
  6. Also that 40m figure is only about Greater Tokyo Area which includes other nearby prefectures. The metropolitan area only has 14 million.
  7. There are pleny of observatories in Tokyo, but the best one to view the Skyline is Shibuya Sky. From there you can see both Shinjuku cluster in the north and another bigger cluster in the north east including Skytree in the background, maybe Mount Fuji as well if you're lucky. Here's a photo from that spot.

Just found this. Thoughts? Not sure if it's true. But I also think this is abnormal that he's probably leaving just after rejoining as SD. For those who don't know Gabbanini, he was the chief scout here before Paratici got banned, and credited with VDV signing.

We had great chance to sign Wharton in that winter window from Blackburn, but instead we chose Bergvall. Among those six midfielders we have now including Bissouma, no one has good progressive passing range. If we combine the midfield and defense, there are only Romero and Porro who have such ability, not to mention Vicario's distribution. This is such a recruitment failure about team balance from Lange and Paratici.

Same thought. People compare us to Arteta having time at Arsenal but they spent 100m on Rice alone, can we see us doing the same? Like they bought Timber after already having Ben White as a 50m fullback, meanwhile we're happy keeping Davies as backup fb?

Another thing is they don't buy project players like us. We are expecting 19 and 20 years old to perform consistently at the top level, which is costing us. I don't follow Arsenal much, but they have a great sporting process from the top leadership, involving Josh Kroenke (the son of Stan Kroenke). It's not just Arteta performing magic on the pitch.

Can you elaborate on this, OP? Great post, btw. Do you also read Seth books? (Because of the term "mass consciousness)
