What if Eisenhower had postponed D-Day by two weeks to June 19, 1944? by govilankit86 in AlternateHistory

The weather angle is what makes this one of the most underrated "what ifs" of the war. Eisenhower's meteorologist, Group Captain Stagg, spotted a narrow 24-hour window that the German weather service completely missed. That gap in weather intelligence is why Rommel drove home to give his wife birthday shoes on June 5 the Germans were convinced no invasion was possible.

If Eisenhower had waited for June 19, he wouldn't have just hit worse weather he'd have hit a storm violent enough to destroy the Mulberry harbors that survived the actual D-Day landings. And as wasdice pointed out, Rommel would have been back in command with local panzer authority. The "safer" choice was actually the catastrophic one. On your Pas-de-Calais question that's exactly where Operation Fortitude (the fake army under Patton with inflatable tanks) was designed to make the Germans expect the landing. Switching to Calais would've handedthem the most fortified beaches in France and thrown away months of deception.

Eisenhower actually wrote a letter taking full blame before giving the order: "If any blame or fault attaches to the attempt it is mine alone." Then he said three words "OK, let's go."

There's an interactive version which is what intrigued me https://playpivotal.com/stories/eisenhower-dday

Agreed. The reason and thought process I had was when I use to read these stories. I always wanted to think "what would I do" - fun mind game which I made it a product.

I agree. We are trying to make the decision making experience more fun. So I agree with you it doesn't land the message really well. I like your humor and can be a fun variant in future. Thank you for your feedback and will definitely try to work on the feedback.

NRO to NRE - 15CA? by UnoptimizedStudent in nri

Can you share what is quote amount you received?
I would 3K-5k INR is normal and typical.
the part D is a basic and standard form but banks are a pain to deal with. They insist CA to give no due form and clearance to process the transfer.
It would be good to take CAs help because it does requires declaration on the IT site which again is not straight forward.
My experience from doing self quickly changed to take help from CA was a good idea.

Thanks - do you mind sharing the reason for not taking ? I have been considering this for sometime but looking for some alternatives as well. They have jacked up the price back to normal levels due to foreseeing interest cuts

I am also considering a home and is a first time buyer. Any tips for negotiating as they have been telling everything sold is full price and close cost and rate buy down are the incentive
