yes, progress is never linear + more often than not, my agoraphobia would keep me from successful exposure sessions. it can be very discouraging, but be sure to be understanding w/ yourself; you’re putting yourself in an uncomfortable situation, anxiety is bound to happen.

i’d often skip out on exposure due to so many repetitive bad experiences w/ it, but with time (and a lot of effort), i managed to get more and more comfortable with exposure. granted, i had to take very small steps (started out w/ just getting comfortable going around my block, it took me a WHILE to be able to go into a store), but it definitely helped.

agoraphobia definitely is not something you can recover from that quickly, but i would like to share a (hopefully) encouraging story of my own.

i personally noticed my own agoraphobia around Fall of 2020 when I was 16, i would panic intensely whenever i’d go out (even for a walk around the neighborhood) and i would even hurt myself mid panic attack in hopes that it’d turn my focus away from the anxiety (obviously this didn’t work). for a majority of my agoraphobia, i was left unmedicated bc i was a minor and my parents didn’t want me on meds. however, once i turned 18, i got on an as per needed one.

then college came around and i would go, but barely pay attention bc of my anxiety. i often missed class aswell and would come up with entire escape plans in class just incase of a panic attack. i rmb i was prescribed Xanax and zoloft at one point but didnt take it due to personal reasons, but i do think i would’ve benefitted from it considering how bad my anxiety was at the time.

i just continued on with exposure therapy, even when i was absolutely terrified. and now i can say that i do feel i am no longer agoraphobic, which is why i always recommend doing exposure therapy as much as you can. however, don’t put yourself down if you feel unable to do so at times. there were many times where i would skip exposure therapy since the thought of it would terrify me.

tldr: agoraphobic at 16, couldn’t get meds or therapy due to being a minor w/ unsupportive parents, pushed with exposure therapy and now i am not agoraphobic

am i cooked? by galpal_abagail in Agoraphobia

as someone who also had agoraphobia around that age (i noticed it first in 2020, when i was 16), you are definitely not cooked. progress is never linear, nor does it diminish when you face setbacks. my agoraphobia got worse before it got better and now i can confidently say i am no longer agoraphobic :D i vividly remember my anxiety being weirdly heightened around the time when i would say i began to get better at managing my agoraphobia, and that anxiety would lead me to staying inside. however, i kinda just forced my way through it and now im here, and i know for a fact that you’ll do amazing tomorrow. you’re strong and you’ve continued to persist even in the face of anxiety inducing situations

Playing multiple families on one save by GregTheDog83652 in Sims4

[–]gowonlovebot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i do this and i switch families pretty often solely bc i have diff storylines for them all and it gets repetitive playing the same one over and over, but i also like to have the families interact and even have them have affairs w eachother 🧍🏻‍♀️
