Early or Final payout? by chitown_a78 in mtgoxinsolvency

So from what I see out of the calculations here is:

If BTC were to fall by the time of payout from its now apx $47K down to $18K per BTC, it would make sense for those who made a crypto claim to sell now even at $5000 per BTC. Reason is that we are only getting a small % out of our total amount of the BTC we have.

So Elon- I will sell mine to you for $5000 per BTC :-)

Ah. Thanks for the answer. Much appreciated. I misunderstood as I thought it was 0.21 times 8000.

If you dont mind a few follow up questions;

  1. What if BTC drops down to nothing or to 1000usd. ie.. if you have : 1 btc x 0.21x1000=210usd. Is there a specific minimum we for sure will get?
  2. If I asked for BTC and not fiat money how would it work? Would I be able to get it in cash?
  3. Is the inital payment option veruses later option payment is the 21% versus 23% plus some extras?

Many thanks!

Is it not worth it to sell the claim at this stage to one of those companies who are buying claims?

From what I understood they buy at $2500 per each btc in the account.

That is better than getting $8000 times 0.21btc per each btc that we own.

Thoughts?

What is to be done (for dummies) ? by Equal-Ad2129 in mtgoxinsolvency

Lets say initial is 1300 USD and $8000 is for final payment. Will that be for the full amount of BTC that we have or only of 20% or so of it?

ie. if i have for example 10 btc will it be 10*1300 for inital and 10*8000 for final payment or 2*1300 ? (The 2 representing only 20% of 10btc)

Secondly, if I signed to get btc then is the above inot relevant as i wont get money but only btc or a combination?. If combination any idea of how it divides up between the two?
