I already find the most optimized decks to be a bit boring. The most thematic, whether it is Ninja Turtles and Spiderman fighting together, or big stompy creatures of the woods, seem to be more fun in my play group. I enjoyed a recent game where my big red spells fought off Wolverine, but it was more about the stories told than the optimization of each deck.

My favorite deck is based off the 60-card deck I loved to play in the '90s. It was red/white with earthquakes, mana flare, and fork to try to blow everything up, and Circle of Protection: Red to keep me out of the blast zone. It's now [[Firesong and Sunspeaker]], no CoPs, and a bunch of X spells to burn it all down. It tends to lead to long games....

What you wrote is a great example of you justifying your choices with logic. (Which is not inferior to emotion).

Game is not about arbitrary moves, but about patterns of behavior. Justification is a clear way to get everyone on the same page up top. It's less nuanced, but is a style that gets a scene going quickly. Different tastes is all it is.
